So they have to make a decision on Lawrence and Cooper by March 8th?
No.
Cooper is under contract - Dallas has to decide to keep and pay him / trade him to a team that wants him in exchange for draft capital/ cut him outright (no takers for trade) and absorb the cap hit...not really a concrete deadline as I understand.
Lawrence is an FA - Cowboys can offer him a deal now.
If nothing comes to fruition - Dallas can tag him before March 8th (Franchise or Transional)
If the Cowboys eschew those options - Gregory will have the opportunity to negotiate with other teams March 14th.

Keep in mind both DLaw and Coop are under contract.......he can sit their decision and wait for a trade offer, likely close to the draft vs decisions have to be made now regarding his free agents. Wonder if that's what he's implying

If Cooper is gone, it doesn't even matter who else goes. Unless you think Micah will win the SB by himself, because our offense can't get it done against good teams WITH the alleged best WR trio in the game.

I think Lawrence and that awful contract HAVE TO GO. And while I’m not a fan of kick the can restructures, I think losing Cooper would be too tough to overcome this year.

I can see them posting already.........But Dakkkkkkkkkkkkk can't function without a 20 million $ receiver as Lamb is being doubled etc etc etc......

I'm gonna assume that there is plenty of talk going on with both players' agents behind the scenes.

Translation: We don’t know what we’re doing and don’t have a plan other than “we like our guys”.

You mean your translation? If Dallas says what they will do they are accused of showing their hand, if they say it too early to say, then that means they have no clue? lol Pretty much anything they say will be used as a negative.

If only Lawrence were a free agent. That would be glorious. Gregory is, but Lawrence has a monster contract that makes him a likely cut or trade for a bag of Dexter Coakley Pogs.

I know Cooper ruffled Jerry's feather missing time for the reason he did, but getting rid of him now after calling this a "win or else" season would be either monumentally stupid or revealing--probably both.

It takes 2 to tango. Cooper has to agree to re-work his contract.

“Too early”? You’ve got about two weeks to figure it out Little Enos.

Stephen was very clear about Zeke coming back but non-committal about Tank and Coop. I think the answer is obvious in regards to those two.

Stephen also sounded like a moron trying to peddle that garbage. “Fortunate to have Zeke”? At that cost? Uh, no. Absolutely not. And it’s insulting to try to hear his spin on yet another of his negotiating blunders and awful contracts.

Any other organization would have fired him for his mishandling of multiple big money deals. Every one he’s handled has been terrible. From Lawrence, to Elliott, to Cooper, to Prescott. He’s bungled them all, and rather than placing blame where it belongs - on him - he’s trying revisionist history and attempting to put it on the players.

Fail Little Enos.

Fail.

Maybe because it is.

No one is taking Lawrence and his salary in a trade. His trade value is negative.

which one? I will leave to you guys, I understand they own the team, it is their team. All the whining and pouting does not change a damn thing. I have said many times if I could buy a team I would not hire Jerry or Stephen as my GM. Having said that, right now all I'm interested in is how they manage the cap and who will they pick up in this up coming draft. I would like to see them build off the 12-5 season and not going to sit here and rehash what took place over the last 25 years. It don't view it as the same old thing, I see a coaching staff I have more confidence in that the pervious one. My focus is on the off season. You guys have every right to moan and whine about Jerry, I find is useless since again it is their team, you don't have to like but it what it is and all the crying in the world does not change that and I'm not one to cry over things I have no control over.

Son & Father in an arm-wrestling about these two players. Stephen wants to pull the trigger...Jerry says "hold on - wait a minute"

They are just hoping someone offers something for them.

'Ikelly' - my mistake. I had Cooper and Randy Gregory in my mind, since it's appeared to me those two players are the ones that are brought up and commented on the most (here at Cowboys Zone and elsewhere on sports blog).

I get that sacks aren't everything. Pressures and run-stopping are valuable but I think you can find a guy who is almost as good for half the price, or a 2nd round pick who's 22/23 years old instead of 30.
