How much would it take to buy the Cowboys? And what would you do?

This is a 2 part question. I have always fantasized about buying the Cowboys and doing things my way lol. I wanted to change up the topics on the fan zone a bit and have some fun. I think it is well needed after the season we just endured.

So I pose this question. How much would it take for Jerry to sell the Cowboys? 8 Billion? 10? What would you do on the day if this ever happened? Could the largest fan base in sports come together and buy Jerry out? lol. Hey its possible with all the Crypto millionaires out there. In all honesty. What are you doing on your first day as Owner of the Dallas Cowboys? If you took it over right now in its current state.

I for one would bring in Troy as GM and letting him do his job. He has stated multiple times that he wants the job and would do it. Seeing his dedication to anything he has ever done and the amount of knowledge he has I think would turn the team around rather quickly and also bring about a sense of accountability that we haven't had since he left. I am also firing everyone even remotely related to the Jones family. I dont care if its the water boy (who I am actually pretty sure is related). I am also firing Mickey Spags. But thats another topic lol.

Lets hear your thoughts and ideas. Lets change it up a bit and have a friendly fun conversation.

Depends on ones level of business knowledge, as it is a business.
Even if one knows how to run a business, this is a different dinosaur.

So the best thing to do at first, is NOT to make wholesale changes. Depending the state of the team. So this is a team that is always in the mix for a playoff spot. And went 12-5.

So the Jones' are out. You take over. 1st, you get to know the routines and how things operate.
You hire a competent GM.

You sit back and observe as to what works, what doesn't work to your viewpoint. Then you learn from your mistakes, and not be stubborn to do things "your way"
Be flexible.

If you are a losing team, then yes make your coaching staff change. But this team does not need that right now.

The Cowboys would be picking number one overall every year if some of the fans on this board owned the team. Lol
Lol, also don't forget all the crazy trades we would be able to pull off with other teams, giving them our overpaid average performers for their star performers!

Yeah, there would be crazy trades. And they could not resist to interfere with the GM and draft people.
As they would use one of the draft simulator websites where they can make their picks. Therefore doing what they claim Jerry does...interfere...then say, well it is my team, I can do what I want.
:lmao:

Sadly the Joneses will never sell the Cowboys. The family is living the American dream since buying the Cowboys. Jerry has the number 1 franchise in all of sports and worth of the franchise is getting higher by the day. You could argue that the Cowboys are the number 1 business in the world and guess who is the face of the franchise.

To answer your second question I would want to be just like Jerrah. I would love to take care my family with generational wealth and giving my children/grandchildren quality lives/careers.

According to this August 2021 article, the franchise's value was $6.5 billion. At minimum, I believe Jones would sell at $9.5 billion. I highly doubt he would sell at any price but that is the figure he would start haggling at
What would you do on the day if this ever happened?
Party like its 1999.
Could the largest fan base in sports come together and buy Jerry out?
No. Perhaps that would be a possibility if it was a business venture creating a brand new franchise but not an established franchise in my opinion.
What are you doing on your first day as Owner of the Dallas Cowboys?
Initiating an extensive search for the best general manager candidates available.

If we're lucky enough to someday find ourselves out from under the Joneses (or if Jerry passes on and his replacement decides to hire an actual GM) I hope Troy is never let anywhere near our GM position.

His playing career here is littered with evidence that he's just not suited for a position like that.

Like, while Brett Favre was winning back-to-back-to-back MVP's and it was wildly obvious what direction the league was heading, Troy was grumbling about Shotgun formations and high-powered passing games being a fad. He lobbied Jerry to hand an aging blocking fullback a contract worth half what a #1 WR cost. And he signed off on us spending a 1st rounder on a lumbering, blocking TE.

The man was already behind the times and a bit of a dinosaur even when he was in his late 20's. Kid yourselves all you want, but that's a problem that only gets worse with age. Not better.

I've seen zero reason to think he'd magically become a forward-thinking, innovative GM who understands how the Salary Cap works or how Game Theory works. Zero reason to think he has any idea how to handle personnel evaluations. But he's spent long enough now in an announcers' booth second-guessing things after the fact that some people assume he knows best.

We can be like the Green Bay Packers and have the fans own the team... We would just have to hire a GM...

The #1 valued sports team on the planet, so a crapload to buy.I would do everything exactly opposite as the Jones’, because what they’ve done hasn’t worked and see what happens.Just like the Seinfeld episode “the opposite.”

Our great great grandchildren will be complaining about the Cowboys under another Jones ownership . You would be able to pay off the national debt before you could afford to buy the Cowboys.

I would pay Belichick whatever it took to be GM.
Let him hire own HC
Keep McClay and the scouting dept.
Let everyone else go.
Sell all of the art at the stadium.
Remove all the entertainment props.

Also in the purchasing agreement with Jerry
Include a gag order preventing him from ever publicly commenting on the Cowboys.
