I’m a huge Texas Tech fan and saw TJ Vasher play many games when he was at Tech. Honestly, IMO, he’s not an NFL level receiver. He was a good but not great college player, capable of some cool highlight plays but also struggled to make routine catches. He’s not that great.

His strengths:
  • Size- he’s very tall and a decent weapon in the red zone.
  • Capable of making an occasional highlight reel catch.
  • He does well going after difficult, contested receptions.
  • Can handle a physical corner because of his size.
His weaknesses:
  • Zero speed. He has long legs but no burst.
  • Drops. Makes spectacular catches. Drops a ton of routine passes.
  • Takes “plays off” when not involved in a play call.
  • Not a good blocker.
  • Often injured. Missed a ton of games in college.
Bottom line: I will be shocked if he makes the 53. He has some raw skill but his weaknesses are many. Fools gold.

You guys probably forgot about him. Now you can sleep better tonight knowing we got both James Washington and T.J. Vasher gobbling up opposing defenses. Should be a great year. :)

I did not forget about him. I mentioned him is a post a few days back or so.

I have hopes for him, but now he is a camp body. He was signed as an UDFA, due to some type of injury.
he spent all TC on NFI / PUP, and was not activated from it until the very last of the year. But somehow kept him on the team. Not sure how that happened, but they had to activate him or release him. But I don't think he was ever on the official 53.

Anyway, I still want to see what he can do. I seen him basically single handily beat Texas in a game, but never seen him repeat that in college, but then again I never watched all of Texas Tech's games.
I think he will be a TC body and make the PS this year. Feheko has more upside at this point, because he has played in PS games and was on the roster, though inactive. He has practiced all year during the season.

Same Bob. He’s also injury prone. He’s the type that will make a big play in one game and never to be seen again

Dallas has a number of players in a similar position to Vasher - just outside of the 53 roster, under different team rights: Reserve (Designated to Return\Injured); Practice Squad; FA (Exclusive Rights \Restricted).
They all know they will face challenges this spring and summer to remain with the Cowboys team.

The sooner a young guy pushes Noah "role player" Brown off the roster the better, but not sure Vasher is the guy who does it.

Vasher is a UDFA and unproven WR in this league. My expectations are lower than yours. Until proven otherwise, I'm not planning on a breakout season from him. But I'm ready to be surprised if he can show something.
If you watched him in college you wouldn't be saying that. He just wasn't given a chance last year but they saw enough in him to not let him go. My expectation for Vasher is sky-high. Be ready to be very surprised.

Vasher is an interesting player.

6-6 with 35-1/8" arms and a 37" vert.

Not fast but as a 4th WR could create matchup problems with his length.

I feel better about Brandon Smith making a step up than I do Vasher.
