FA has been depressing. A lot of good players to be had and no interest from this front office. If we are going to play this bargain bin game again and just rely on the draft to improve the team. At least add some cheap guys who can be placeholders for the draft picks if they aren't exactly plug and play rookies.

1. Billy Turner T/G- Josh Ball can't be your swing tackle he hasn't proven he can even play in the NFL yet. Turner can be your swing tackle and he can even be your starting left guard if something doesn't fall the way you expect it to in the draft. Shouldn't break the bank.

2. Linval Joseph 1-tech- ageing DT but still managed 57 tackles last year and should be cheap. Dallas doesn't value the position so I don't expect them to draft a 1-tech any higher than the 5th round. If he can't play anymore cut him in camp it won't cost much. At least try to make an effort at the position though; it's getting old.

3. Troy Reeder ILB- If the Rams sign Wagner I doubt they bring back Reeder. Over the past two seasons he is averaging 85 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a pick per season. Dallas needs a MLB that can play when Parsons is doing his thing at end. LVE and Cox are weak side LB's. Again, shouldn't break the bank.

Fills those holes and go draft, I am done expecting anything else from free agency.

Thanks for making these suggestions, rather than complaining about things that bug us! I'm with you in hoping for the right guys to come along. Let's make amends for our mediocre days in free agency, so far. A few more wise decisions would be great. Like yourself, I keep hoping for the best. There are still some good ones out there to be had. Let's hope Jerry and Son see your ideas and open their piggy banks for once. They can afford it now! :)

You expected something from free agency?

I agree I didn’t expect anything but his point is wel taken and aligns with what we have seen as the cowboys fa strategy in the past….3rd tier fas long in the tooth or off an injury

That's a great well thought out plan and would really cover a lot of bases for us.

Should be able to do all three of those guys and come in under the cap and sign the rookies

You assume the Jones boys have even heard of these guys.

Good idea but I’m not interested in slop. I’d like to fill a couple of critical positions with a 2-3 year horizon

OG and MLB will be available in the draft

give me Tretter (C) and Hicks (DT) and then BPA in draft

You know they absolutely hate guys who do the dirty work like a true 1DT. They have bohanna and a bunch of guys they view as flex enough to play the 1tech spot. Doubtful they draft or sign another guy for the 1t, maybe the 3tech.

I don't think Quinn values or sees it as a 1T and 3T. Gallimore and Osa are pretty interchangable. He had Mebane (311) and Bryant (323) in 2014 he had McDaniel (305) and Williams (311). So I just don't see him getting a big fat fire hydrant type of player in his scheme.

Grady Jarrett runs around 305 and his athletic as hell.

Good post.

I wouldn’t be unhappy with these moves. I think Turner becomes your starting LG immediately, honestly.

The rest of these are good depth/insurance moves.

Still time to get them in here.
Some players I, as many did not think of. Maybe Turner had been mentioned before. But sound like a reasonable plan that fits in with Stephens budget.

I don't care about size as much as effectiveness. I prefer someone who can actively occupy 2 blockers and dream they can still make the tackle while leaving the other tackle free to beat his man on 1. When they have to play too many games so the 3tech can beat his man or get pressure we become too vulnerable up the middle. Ratliff was a beast cause they couldn't block him with 2 guys, but he wasn't the biggest it's the relentless tenacity we need. Hope that makes sense.

G/C- Ethan Pocic or Billy Price
OT- Julie’n Davenport
DT- Danny Shelton or Jonathan Hankins
LB- Kenny Young or Nick Kwiatkoski
S- Ronnie Harrison or Jabrill Peppers

Obviously not going to happen but 5 more signings would make this team a lot better.

You laid it out perfectly. This has been the formula for years now. Wait for cheap/desperate vet minimums to "cover holes". Draft players who may or may not be plug-and-play talent. Cross fingers and hope something pans out. Continue to gas light fans. Rinse and repeat 2023.
