"Where I think he can get better is being more a leader, understanding that he’s our mike linebacker and he can tell us whatever the hell he wants to tell us, and we’ve got to abide by it. Once he figures that out, I feel like he’ll be a great leader, and he’ll really be running the show.”

That's the nature of the mike position, and has been for a long time. Nothing to see here.
Plenty to see...when a vet like Tank says it, it means a lot. Haley wasn't a Mike but he told them whatever the hell he wanted.

sooner the better for micah to be the leader and alpha for the locker room

need a real dog to be in charge no more of these soft boyz like dlaw
I don't think dlaw is soft at all. He just isn't all in with football which is understandable. He didn't make Jerry pay him

Micah is the true leader of the team and if Dak pulls any more bone headed slides or bouncing throws I can only hope he gets an *** beating from Micah. Money hasn't improved his play. Practice doesn't. Maybe fear would.

A LB'er should be the leader, and he plays like one. Talking might not be his strong point. I still do not understand what this means, "Look hay back and got his concord Jordan on always!!"

The story is that he has DLaw bought in. That’s huge.

Why are would anyone come down on DLaw statement? I think that is mature of him to stand up and hand over the roll of leader of the defense, to Parsons. As a rookie it is not easy to take on the role as you are learning but now in his 2nd season to have DLaw say that Parson is the leader is pretty big

It's a great thing to say. Parsons needs to hear it. He stayed in his lane as a rookie, and that's to be expected. Law is giving him the green light to be the alpha he is. He wants Parsons to know this is his defense. Parsons will appreciate it.

Don't know if he's handing it off as much as saying it's Parsons' job as the MIKE to be the on-field leader. He's calling the defense. He's making the adjustments. He's reading the offense and telling his guys what to expect. We've had some real good ones in that regard: Lee and Nguyen come to mind from recent generations. Might be an area where Parsons can step up his game since the playing part of it comes so natural to him.

DL guys like Lawrence don't do a lot of directing. They get adjusted by the MIKE as he shifts the pieces around and directs the back end.

Saying, "he can tell us whatever the hell he wants to tell us" is handing it off bro

You seemed to have skipped the part where he says right before that "he's our mike linebacker." So are you saying Lawrence is handing off something that wasn't his on the field? He's not the mike. For the defense to operate like it is supposed to, the mike needs to run the show. Lawrence says that's one area where Parsons can get better.

And they must abide by what he tells them.

He spotlighted one player in particular, linebacker Micah Parsons. Lawrence believes the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year can be even more.

“Micah is Micah,” Lawrence explained. “Everybody knows about his speed, his agility, just the type of athlete he is. Where I think he can get better is being more a leader, understanding that he’s our mike linebacker and he can tell us whatever the hell he wants to tell us, and we’ve got to abide by it. Once he figures that out, I feel like he’ll be a great leader, and he’ll really be running the show.”

Jaylon Smith was never a great Mike. Never should have been Mike at all. He was a chase the play down kind ok guy, not a hard nose anchor in the middle kind of guy
Meh. Without that drop foot he'd have been a monster. Sometimes you gamble and lose. Unfortunately for him his ego hasn't caught up with his current stature yet.

he's a good guy and player, I just hope the country club atmosphere doesn't ruin him.

Wasn't Kearse calling the plays last year? Given the job he did I'm not sure we can go away from him. Parsons is still undoubtedly our finest defensive player and on a trajectory to be the best defender in the league. He is an alpha, and that will shine through this season.

Maybe, but he also looked like a guy who couldn't recognize what he was looking at. It's pretty well chronicled how often he guessed wrong. You could see the wheels come off, and his mistakes begin to pile up. Momentum was not on his side.

There he goes again. Needing that much attention. DeMarcus Lawrence simply can't keep his mouth shut!
