The Battle for Texas!
I watched the hl and this looks like a good game. Something to watch since not much happening now.
usfl starts Sat !

See all the guys , 2 blocked punts,
gant , holt, norton, harper, novachek, moose etc
the tripletts get too much credit for that era. In this game they all make a boo boo lol
Aikman and Emmitt fumble and Irvin gets a celebration penalty.
The oilers were unbeaten at home 5-0 game is in Houston.
I am looking at game now and picture is much better than the HL vid.

both have to be watched on youtube so just click on that link.
First the HL vid for those with no patience, it is 15 min.

The Full Game enjoy !

Man, even the drives that didn't end in a touchdown were fun to watch... gawd I miss those days.

Keeping the ball with that punt in the beginning of the second against Green Bay... those were the days.

I was at that Dallas vs Houston game, Cowboys were in a position to kick FG in OT but ended up fumbling.

I think I remember that game. I didn't expect Dallas to win, but remembered they could have won but for the fumble. I could be wrong because I did not check. I don't like rehashing losses.

*Oilers had great uniforms. The Titans should’ve kept the exact scheme except they could’ve replaced the oil thing (tower?) with the T.
I wonder why the Titans didn't just allow the Houston Texans to get back the Oilers name and color scheme. The Titans have gone primary dark blue and gray type scheme for the most part. They have some of the old Oilers blue in their scheme but it's not even close to the same.

I remember the date without looking it up. November 10th. Grrrrr...

Took me years to get over that loss and I'm not exaggerating. Several years after the Super Bowls in fact.

We weren't quite there yet and beating that run and shoot gimmick (which we could NOT do at all) and that Oilers team would have been huge. I wanted it badly (the difference between now and then? The players wanted it badly also lol).

I was dating someone new at that point and I remember being out with her afterward and being completely depressed. Could neither shake it or fake it.

That same scheme was the downfall to that season a couple of months later in Detroit. Guys like Manny Hendrix, Issac Holt, Ray Horton and Jack Del Rio just couldn't defend it.

Drafted Kevin Smith and Darren Woodson among others in the next draft and away we go....

Still really stung that day and I remember it all too well.

well not sure, but I think the owner who took them to tenn, got mad cause he wanted a new stadium, and was turned down, so he took his team and left.
If that guy is dead though it would be possible to resurrect the oilers, but the new owner of texans, probably didnt want it as he is an idiot too.

Texans are basically black color with a little red, I dont think they have any blue. ugly uni's helmets logo and name. Oilers looked way better.
Basically you would need a billionaire who wanted to bring back the oilers, then it might happen.

Also NFL needs some rules pertaining to moving team, like taking the raiders to vegas, should that be allowed? or should they be renamed.
If renamed, then the oilers name should have come back to city of houston, and next person to start a team there would have to take that name, same for oakland.

Wasnt the ravens the former cleveland browns? then someone else started the browns up again?

losses are fun to watch unless cowboys are blown out. this game was close all the way, and 2 blocked punts by dallas!
I watch losses with no problems, it is fun to figure why they lost too.

So detroit ran that offense too?
did not know that.
but also in this game , our offense was not as good as usual, they said houston def was good.
I am in 3rd qrt, but emmitt has not been a factor, troy has been off on passes, and they cant get in endzone.

The Ravens were the Browns up till 1995. Their coach in the 90s was Bill Belichick. They moved to Baltimore then the Browns were givin an expansion team a few years later.

What's funny is the Browns nickname is because of the coach/owner was Paul Brown who went on to create the Bengals in the AFL and that's still in that family.

If I'm not mistaken, Atlanta at some point also may have been running that offense too.

Back then was when I used to gamble heavily. Home games meant a lot more back then. That was the year the Lions simply did not lose at home. Houston was pretty good too at home. I was surprised the Cowboys were able to keep that game close.

I wonder why no team uses the Run & Shoot anymore?

Yeah I think Atlanta did also. Bunch of short passes... but I remember us having a rough time stopping it before 92.

Was a gimmick like the wildcat.
