You mean before the internet and cell phones when Jerry was in his mid-50s and Peyton Manning was still at Tennessee,?
In those days, all Jerry had to do to build a team, was to open his checkbook. Not so ez now.

Film as in prospects for FA and the draft, not game films. He needs to watch game films to approve the game plans.
Jerry only gets to see highlight play. He doesn't realize that every player in the NFL has a great highlight film.

He's kept the team relevant with moderate success and without championships. Is it ideal? No. Do we want more? Sure. The Jones' not going anywhere so if you have an issue with that you have your choices.
Yep I’ll be on here voicing my opinion same as you but not defending their sorry *****.

At least the Cowboys have 5 Super Bowl championships and the Detroit Lions haven’t even been to one. They traded their starting QB and the following season he won a Super Bowl with the Rams. Must really suck being a Lions fan.

i love that the cut off is always right after we won a SB. So what is it if we go back a couple more years?
25 seasons: 2021 back through 1997.
Add 1996 back through 1991: sum playoff record 15-13 = .536 winning pct. for 31 seasons (1991-2021).
Six seasons from 1991-1996____12-3 playoff record = .800 winning pct.
25 seasons since 1997- 2021____3-10 playoff record = .231 winning pct.

At least the Lions fans don't expect an SB every year only to get their hearts broken. Us Cowboys fans, on the other hand, lose a little bit of our soul after being disappointed every season.

I think it’s a lot more frustrating when your franchise has never won a Super Bowl or even been to one and your fan base has no expectations of even reaching one. The Lions are only one of four teams have never been to a Super Bowl.

There can’t be anything worse as a fan of a franchise that’s never even reached a Super Bowl than to trade away your franchise QB only to have them lead another team to a championship that following season. The Lions traded away one of the most productive QBs in the entire league to the Rams in exchange for their garbage. Lol They gave the Rams just what they needed to push them over the top, while the Lions ended up 3-13 with Jared Goff. I find that hilarious! Their fan boards must be a real downer, if they even have them.

Huh?...please explain how Jerry's checkbook built those teams.
Yep, free agency and the cap wasn't even around then, except for Plan B, and that was the youngest team in the league.

I don't know where this myth got started that if there was no cap, he would have stockpiled all the good expensive players. He was not then nor is his now the richest owner in the league.

How can it be all about his checkbook when so many complain that they don't spend money?

The ones I know are just thankful they still have a franchise in Detroit. That city has been under duress for years and losing population, some need something to hold onto.

Then why stick around? When one thinks negative all the time from results they do not like. Make a change in your life.

If you spouse cheats on you for the past 26 years of your marriage, and you know about it, and after all that one still whines, would it not be better to get a divorce?

I don't understand those guys. But, then again, there's nothing wrong with it. Even misunderstood negative Nancy's have really beautiful counterparts.

You gotta draw the line, somewhere.

Thats the part I dont get, must be from the younger fans that dont know how the old system worked.

Sort of like the myth that back in the day players were "loyal" not like today, they just chasing the money...

They were more loyal back then cause they had no choice - I believe the team had the rights to the player for like 10 years...

Trust me if there were free agency back then players would be moving just like today.
