I'm not saying Dak is better than Mahomes

You are so full of hate and jaded it is comical.

Yes, he doesn't have 9 400 yard games because you have all of these fantasies built up in your head. It is REALLY weird the lengths you go to trying to downgrade Dak. REALLY weird.
leave him be. he is still stinging with Dak replacing romo. he misses Romo. who based on his own arguments was a stat collector.

good point. but we can't assume those 400 yard games were against division foes...but I wonder which games they each had 400 yards and what was the final outcome. usually when you get to that number, you are either in a shoot out or trying desparately to come from behind.
Mahomes lead the Chiefs to a 5-2 record when he threw for at least 400 yards with those 2 loses being by a combined 6 points.

Dak lead the Cowboys to a 5-4 record when thowing for at least 400 yards with those 4 loses being by a combined 30 points.

Point 1: Mahomes played in 73 games, Dak only 56 and Dak still has him beat in 400 yard games.

Point 2: Mahomes has a god-like receiving unit. Dak has a very good receiving unit but it doesn't compare to Mahomes'. Kelce + Hill > by far anyone we got. Cowboys are receivers by committee. Chiefs have a receiving unit that have been proven unstoppable by 31 teams.

Point 3: Wins are a team accomplishment, so Mahomes didn't win those games on his own.

Again, Mahomes > Dak overall because of his Super Bowl and his postseason accomplishments, but lots of his games are simply because Chiefs are good enough to jump ahead and beat teams without Mahomes needing to do much. Cowboys has a bad defense most of the times, 0 dominant D-linemen, a used up starting running back, and an O-Line that blew the SF playoff game badly. Mahomes O-Line was horrendous in the Super Bowl, but at least they chose the last game of the year to be bad in.

Thoughts?

I am sure it's been said already. Your point 3 is wrong. I've seen Mahomes bring that team back to win. I've seen him come back from behind and win. Sure he's got support but so does Dak. Plus Mahomes has special athletic talents that Dak doesn't have.

thanks for the info. this adds context.
OPs stat is wrong anyways.

Mahomes has 7 games with 400 yards passing, not 6. Mahomes had another 400 yard game after this tweet was posted.

That's what happens when you dig through tweets all the back to November to post in May. The accuracy of the stats do not matter much to OP though, I suppose.

Defense allows points, no?

Or you’re saying we didn’t score many?

without Mahomes needing to do much

If you ignore running for his life due to his o line, picking up crucial yards & first downs with his legs, running a complex & ever changing Andy Reid offense, getting the ball into those playmakers hands and oh by the way making inhuman throws over & over again, then yeah, he didn't contribute much. And oh by the way, he lead wins against quality teams in the playoffs & SB.

Some things are self evident. Mahomes level of play is one of those.

Andy Reid vs Jason Garrett........wonder if that matters

Legit questions......
  • Would Dak be a better QB if he'd play his first 4 years under Andy Reid?
  • Would Mahomes be a better QB under Jason Garrett?

Just for fun I did the math:

In the 400 yard games by Dak our defense gave up an average of 32 PPG
In the 400 yards games by Mahomes the Chiefs defense gave up and average of 25 PPG

In the 400 yard games by Dak the Cowboys offense scored an average of 33 PPG.
In the 400 yard games by Mahomes the Chiefs offense scored an average of 35 PPG.

So, the Dallas defense allowed more PPG than the Chiefs defense. While the Chiefs offense averaged more PPG than the Cowboys offense.

So, taking those two stats into account the Chiefs were basically 5 points better than the Cowboys in games in which Dak and Mahomes threw for at least 400 yards.

Dak would be Dak and Mahomes would be Mahomes.

The talent level is just completely different.

Dak was graded as a 4th round talent because he was dual threat QB, if he was a pure pocket passer at Miss State he would have never even got drafted. If you look at Daks scouting report it's basically still to this day spot on accurate.

Mahomes was graded as a 1st round talent and has one of the strongest arms we've ever seen. He always had the talent and that was seen.

To answer your question though..... If you switched the coaches out the only difference would probably be that Reid would have already moved on from Dak just like he did with a similar QB in Alex Smith.

I remember watching highlights of a KC game last season. The KC offense had just come off the field after coming up short on a 3rd and long. The 3rd down play was a completed pass after a typical Mahomes play extending scramble but the receiver was tackled just short of the marker. On the sidelines Mahomes took responsibility and apologized to the receiver for putting the ball on the wrong shoulder.

That's the difference between elite, and Dak.

Mahomes has 7 career 400 yard games.

This is what happens when you go all the way back to November to find a "Dak is amazing" tweet. Mahomes threw another 400 yard game after this tweet.

Dak is not worth your credibility.

I'm not sure point #1 means anything at all. A lot of times the QB with over 300+ yards is on the losing side because they are making a late run.

Point #2. Are you sure it's not Mahomes making them look great? Or should I expect to see Tua all of a sudden be this great QB?

I think it was 2019. We all watched the Packers offense and Aaron Rodgers put up over 30 points against us and WR Adams wasn't even playing.

It's just a statistic without context. Romo threw for over 500 yards and lost. Does anyone care? Big Ben threw for over 500 yards in his playoff loss.

Exactly. Throw out some stat...trying to prove...what? We want winners here, not personnel stats for losses.

Let's go back to Dak's rookie season in 2016. TWO YEARS before Mahomes ever started a game in the NFL.

Career games with at least 300 yards passing:

Dak- 20
Mahomes - 31
