I agree 100% but with the great ( Miller, Watts, Deion, LT, ) ones, it doesn't matter. You can't shut their talent down, offense learns to adjust and live with it. THIS is why I said in another thread it's a bit too early to attach superstar his name. Let's see if offenses can stop him with a full offseason of game planning. We will know a lot after this season........
Other than the mercenary Deion, the others that you mentioned just played football and didn't pander to the media

Demarcus Ware had 20 sacks in 2008 and 19.5 sacks in 2011 and the Cowboys missed the playoffs both years. One player getting a lot of sacks doesn’t guarantee wins. You need several players who can come up with sacks if you want to win. Parsons only had one sack in his final four games last season including the playoff loss to San Francisco. He appeared to be running out of gas by the end of the season.

Not sure many fans realize this has always been true........no one player can stop an offense.

TJ Watt led the league with 22.5 sacks last season. The Steelers made the playoffs as a wildcard team and got blown out by KC who put up 42 points. One great player doesn’t make a great unit. The best defenses didn’t have one player account for most of their sacks. A great offensive team can usually neutralize one great defensive player. DWare got taken out of the number of plays in the big games we played with him.

I'm pretty sure he just answered the questions he was asked. I doubt that he called a press conference to talk himself up. Sure, he could have been more humble, but I'd rather he give himself goals, even if he does it publicly.

True but as a rule, most great defenses have three things in common
  • two or more top-five or elite players
  • great scheme/coordinator
  • healthy.......missing no key players
Just me but Ray Lewis is the only defensive player that litterly lifted his entire team to a Super Bowl. Not with stats but his leadership raised the level of play of every player on the entire team. Remember he won Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer.....lol

This is why none of this offseason stuff we are seeing from him bothers me. Let's also keep in mind, that he's a young guy, obviously loving the attention, showing some immaturity but I think he'll settle down after a couple of years.

+1 ......we as fans sometimes forget these are 20-21 year kids living out a dream. Something I'm 100% sure he/they are told from their first day as a freshman, is just be yourself, not what you think fans want you to be.

I love that fact that he wants to be great....but, I wish he flew a bit under the radar.....teams have a year of film on him and can gameplan accordingly....especially, if he keeps talking. I like the swagger, but tone it down a bit. Just my opinion, don't attack me, I'm a bit ornery this morning..looking for a lost calf.
That was some tender *** beef

Some may see this as arrogant but I have zero problems with it. For example, many may not know or remember but early in his career Emmitt Smith often mention his personal goal was breaking Walter Payton's record. Just me, but this wants to best player on the field........can't argue with that.

Micah Parsons eyeing NFL sacks record
Posted by Charean Williams on June 23, 2022, 10:55 PM EDT

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons had one of the best rookie seasons in history for a defensive player. He won defensive rookie of the year unanimously, made All-Pro and finished second in defensive player of the year voting after 13 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and 30 quarterback hits in 16 starts.

COVID-19 in Week 18 prevented Parsons from getting a chance to break the rookie sacks record of 14.5 set by Titans edge rusher Jevon Kearse in 1999.
he wont get it as a hybrid LB , DE pass rusher..hes not full time DE with the freedom to go after the QB only. its not just about sacks do what you did as rook reek havoc on all pays, run. pass rush and in coverage..

I can't believe we got such a dynamic player as he. Please don't screw him up, Jerry.

Don't agree....one year is nothing in the NFL....stay humble and prove yourself longterm.....Dak had a great rookie year and now has many haters....

He’s been doing a lot of talking this off-season and appears to have been reading a lot of his press clippings so it wouldn’t surprise me. Opponents will be much more prepared for him this season. Parsons seems to be more concerned about personal accomplishments rather than winning games. Although he had a great rookie season he didn’t show up in the playoffs against San Francisco. He set the bar so high for himself last season it’s going be hard for him to improve on it. Some fans are going overboard with their expectations for him this season. Those are the fans that will be hit the hardest if he does suffer a sophomore slump.

That last sentence says it all!!!! We all want him to be good, but let's just play football

Defensive players get paid for sacks and interceptions, not wins and losses

Totally agree. With the exception of Tank. His second contract was based on pressures, run stopping and not being able to back up his Hot Boy mouth by his on field play. He sold a few jerseys though, LOL.

He's had one season....some of you don't understand the art of film study and game planning....nit to mention a player drinking the kool-aid.
Micah parsons finished a 4 year degree in 3 years. Worrying about him studying is a non issue. But whatever you want to believe

Can’t say that I have. But they can break it down all they want. He now needs to adjust and study as well. I’m just saying when you have a season like he just did, he can talk a bit. He better show it on the field though.

Dak is always in the same place, behind the center. It's a little harder to game plan for someone who may or may not be coming for your QB, from who knows where. Micah may not have the same success he had last season, but he may have more. Whichever way it goes, it's not going to be because he answered a question about what he hopes to achieve.

Parsons has already been on record saying he has plans to get his big pay day, and setting a goal like this could him get there. I'm just concerned where his head will be after he gets paid.

Haven't read/heard this.........is there a link or more info?

Good point, i just wish he would play football and not get caught up with all the media hoopla....he can brag at his HOF speech
