i think maybe it has gone to his head, and while it is good to have a high goal, it will be harder to even match what he did last season.
I doubt he is thinking that last year he was a surprise to many teams, and this season they know about him so will defend him differently.
In the SF WC game they made a point to focus on extra blocking on him and it worked. So it wont be as easy as last season.

Some may see this as arrogant but I have zero problems with it. For example, many may not know or remember but early in his career Emmitt Smith often mention his personal goal was breaking Walter Payton's record. Just me, but this wants to best player on the field........can't argue with that.

Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons had one of the best rookie seasons in history for a defensive player. He won defensive rookie of the year unanimously, made All-Pro and finished second in defensive player of the year voting after 13 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and 30 quarterback hits in 16 starts.

COVID-19 in Week 18 prevented Parsons from getting a chance to break the rookie sacks record of 14.5 set by Titans edge rusher Jevon Kearse in 1999.

Parsons needs to look at history of players who caught the NFL by surprise and then they adjusted before the next season. Adjusting in season is a tall order but give them an off season and they can stop anybody if that's the only thing they have going.

He also needs to take a more team centric approach to his comments because he's going to need those other guys. I realize that is very difficult in Dallas where even his owner wants him to be a star, as an ego squeeze to himself. He forgets his son already outed him that they were taking Horn or Surtain so the bragging rights get muted.

I'll bet Quinn wants that to and doesn't like that kind of talk because it's limited in scope.

Parsons made a name for himself at Penn St as a hell of a tackler, made All American as a soph based on that, not sacks. I would have preferred for him to address it as tackles and sacks and tfl's a subset of that. But sacks are sexy like picks.

However, he is really young guy on a huge stage and trying to max out his earning potential like all of them do. That window is wide open right now and who knows how long it will stay open? Every one of these guys is one wrong injury away from it being over.

Speaking of picks, and I was, I wonder if Diggs has that mindset of leading the league in picks again? Sure put him on the map.

But I hope Quinn helps them realize their #1 job is not sacks or picks, it is preventing the play from happening.

Difference is. Parsons has both of his legs. And hes a far superior player already. I dont mind talking if you back it up. And so far he has. He was our best defensive player by a mile and at times was the best player on the team lol.

He's had one season....some of you don't understand the art of film study and game planning....nit to mention a player drinking the kool-aid.

Im ok with a little swagger provided, like Mountaineer posted, his play continues to back up his mouth.

The last thing I want to see from this kid are flashes of greatness during the first few years and then the dreaded Cowboys Second Contracts diaease overtakes him and he just becomes like one of his current mentors, Hot Boy.

Which is, a lot more mouth than action and settling for going through the motions of his craft and lessened motivation since his monetary goals will already have been met.

I truly hope he proves to be one of those special ones who balls out regardless of circumstance, keeps his edge/hunger and motor because of his love of the game and desire to be the best.

If he does it like that, he's genuinely got a shot at breaking a sacks record or two.

Here's to hoping he does it like that.

Parsons faces even higher expectations in 2022.

He’s been doing a lot of talking this off-season and appears to have been reading a lot of his press clippings so it wouldn’t surprise me. Opponents will be much more prepared for him this season. Parsons seems to be more concerned about personal accomplishments rather than winning games. Although he had a great rookie season he didn’t show up in the playoffs against San Francisco. He set the bar so high for himself last season it’s going be hard for him to improve on it. Some fans are going overboard with their expectations for him this season. Those are the fans that will be hit the hardest if he does suffer a sophomore slump.

I agree 100% but with the great ( Miller, Watts, Deion, LT, ) ones, it doesn't matter. You can't shut their talent down, offense learns to adjust and live with it. THIS is why I said in another thread it's a bit too early to attach superstar his name. Let's see if offenses can stop him with a full offseason of game planning. We will know a lot after this season........

Demarcus Ware had 20 sacks in 2008 and 19.5 sacks in 2011 and the Cowboys missed the playoffs both years. One player getting a lot of sacks doesn’t guarantee wins. You need several players who can come up with sacks if you want to win. Parsons only had one sack in his final four games last season including the playoff loss to San Francisco. He appeared to be running out of gas by the end of the season.
