I’m convinced Jerry has always been bent on recreating the original Big 3 (Aikman, Emmitt, and Irvin) and, of course, who wouldn’t. Problem is when you’re forcing it you start making bad decisions (see Zeke’s extension).
And he still has no clue that our super bowl teams were Defensive teams. The trenches on D and the trenches on O were the two biggest factors in those super bowl wins.

Excellent point. Plus a lot of these mistakes are in hindsight.

Another thing that people keep bringing up that drives me nuts, Zeke held out 2 years early. As if this was uncommon.
It is uncommon.

The Cowboys currently have three of the worse contracts in the NFL.

You were doing so good until the last comment. Almost got a like from me!

Zeke and Dlaw, as I said at the time, are horrific contracts. Even the rework for Dlaw is BAD. Trying to think who else is a bad contract?

Crawford was. Cooper was. Due to multiple injuries, Tyron contract is bad.

For sure. And then once they think they have someone who shows potential they get fixated on that player and ignore faults or red flags until the big extension gets handed to that player. Then the FO realizes that talking up that player as a top 5 guy didn't mean he would be worth top 5 pay but since they already invested into that player and don't want to look bad they double down and restructure those contracts to free up cap to re-sign other guys/some depth fodder from FA.

Jaylon Smith
Tank - reworked but still...
Zeke
Dak

Massive mistakes contract wise. Jaylon was cringe worthy at the time

Jaylon was one of the worst draft picks. He was essentially a very late 1st rounder. Yet we wasted it on a guy they knew would miss the 2016 season and he might have a chance to never step on the field. We were coming off a terrible year and we absolutely wasted that pick. Typical front office. They might hit on some 1st rounders but rounds 2-7, they just aren't good. This is where you fill out your team. And the next year? We pick Taco over TJ Watt because Watt did not fit our system lmao. Atrocious.

And now we're waiting on thug Joseph to grow up and become a man.

How many times do we have to start a “Zeke is overpaid” thread? It’s one of the only topics we all clearly agree on. I guess y’all just want to vent everyday about this man’s money lol.

All threads are repeats.

It is uncommon.

I hated that the FO caved in on Zekes contract BUT at least zeke led the nfl in rushing for his first 2 years and would have for his 3rd year if not for his suspension.

Tyron was elite at his position and not much debate about it so I get that to a point as well

But the Prescott contract ?.....some things don't need explanation

Tyron was and still is a great deal. A franchise LT for about 10 mill a year? Unheard of.

The only issue is his health hasn't cooperated.

We vent on his salary cap implications and his failure to play up to it

Very true but it also shows Jerry's stuck in yester year and hasn't adapted to the game as GM.

In today's NFL, you don't need that dominant, elite level TB like you did (and could afford back in the 90s). In the age of the cap and how the rules benefit passing, teams shifted away from placing high resources in terms of picks and money into TBs, instead using their limited resources in building better OLs, WRs, etc.

Paying Zeke all that money just to pair him with Kellen Moore, who won't even use him, is brilliant general managership.

Even with Zeke's numbers on the books...they have $20+M in cap space. He isn't stopping them from spending. Stephen chooses not to.

It’s a sunk cost. No point losing sleep over it. We’ll cut him this off-season and eat the ~$12M in dead money. It should clear ~$5M in cap space to go get some more help at OL, WR or in the secondary… or mostly likely a few bargain bin players

Because they are usually debatable. We all agree on this topic we just like venting on it I guess. Is what it is lol.

I'm still not done about venting that wings are still over $3.50 a pound.....disgraceful.

And no, boneless wings are crapola
