I was just about to mention this. A lot of people are unaware what an athlete he was.
Only reason i knew it was because my high school had someone that competed against him in that competition and my track coach told me how amazing he actually was at it.

Another fun fact, Terry Bradshaw had the national record as well in the javelin.

I spent the majority of my life in Wisconsin and am a huge Badger fan. Spending many Saturdays at Camp Randall and the Madison atmosphere brings me many happy memories. For years on this site, I posted comments about on how Dallas should draft certain Badger players. It rarely happened. From AL Toon to the Watt Brothers and any of their stable of offensive linemen and running backs. We got Fred Redbeard and now Ferguson. I was pretty happy when Dallas selected Ferguson. I predict he will do very good here. The culture of Badger sports as a whole are commendable. In football, they really are smart players who are dependable and never quit on a play, never give up. They're just good kids who compete ferociously on the field and are compassionate off the field.
