I say offer him 7 million a year long term or tell him to go pound sand.

Don't need to extend or tag him. He's under contract for next year. Who knows if he will sit out and want a contract. He probably will.

The Cowboys aren't pursuing high priced free agents because they understand they have to pay Ceedee, Diggs, and maybe even Parsons at some point in the near future.

The Jones boys are aware.

Say he gets 5-7 INT this year. Do we extend next year, franchise tag, let him play it out and try and sign in offseason?

If we do extend, what is going to be his price?

Jaire Alexander is making 21M a year
Jalen Ramsey is making 20M a year
Marshon Lattimore is making 19.5M a year
Byron Jones is making 16M a year
Marcus Peters is making 14M a year

Where does Diggs fit in. Do we have to offer him 20-22M a year to lock him in for 4-6 years, or can we get him signed to a long term deal at 17 or so million a year for long term? Should we even try or see how next season plays out and franchise tag him for around 18.5M and definitely be on the hook for the 20M range after that tag.

Market value is listed at 22M per. But even if he gets an extension this year. Next year is the 4th year of his rookie deal. So his cap hit will be 1.4 million plus 1/4 or 1/5 signing bonus. Then 2024 will be the first year of his extension, and that shouldn't be too high. Look for a big cap hit from Diggs in 2025. Same goes for Parsons, only his big cap hit comes in 2027. So no need to worry about these guys in the short term. The cap will be higher and better suited to absorb these cap hits by the time they get bigger.

Diggs will be the highest paid CB in the nfl
It’s better to sign than tag because your structure allows a better spread of the money. It could be a couple or three years down the road before his cap hit gets real high, getting you past some of the high contracts we have now

The cap can’t be looked at as a single season. You have to be looking 3-5 years down the road. They do have the luxury of knowing fairly close where the cap is going and that helps planning

Did you just say “maybe even Parsons”?????

Hes more valuable to this team than Ceedee and Diggs combined. Hes getting paid as soon as hes eligible

It was a "maybe" because the other two are technically in line to get paid first. Parsons has the 5th year option like Ceedee and I'm almost 100 percent certain the Jones boys will prolong and fumble that negotiation.

I’d sign diggs this season, ideally to a 4 year deal. That feels like our relative window with Dak, the Oline and front seven nucleus we got going.

I would franchise pollard this year, tell zeke to take a pay cut or to find another team. Conflicted on what to do with Ceedee.

Whatever the price is he's worth it. Lock him up and worry about the other side of the field.

If we give OBJ his money we won't have anything left to sign Diggs with. We'll have to let him walk.

Screw OBJ.

Resigning Diggs will be a priority. So will Parsons. A shutdown corner and a war daddy pass rusher are the two most important positions on defense. That being said, Demarcus Lawrence may wind up being a cap casualty in order to pay the younger guys.

5 years 110m is probably the floor for Diggs. Parsons will likely be 5 years 140m by the time it comes around.

I do not believe the cap is as black and white as you make out.

Let Schultz walk and you can pay OBJ for nearly two years. Restructure a few contracts and you have Diggs money.

I am not advocating OBJ, although I can see some logic in acquiring the guy. Everything I think about him is predicated on his health. I just don't believe Jones will sign a wounded horse. I also think he made an error by not getting a healthy player.

But to suggest it is impossible flies in the face of the Eagles making moves the way they have.

The real problem is Jerry's moves are suspect from the jump.

Hopefully he takes 18 with more guaranteed. Dak and d. Law took more than they’re worth, so I expect Suggs to take 25 since he’s worth 21. Micah seems like the type of leader that will help the team out.
