DALLAS -- DeMarcus Ware, working Radio Row on behalf of Gatorade on Thursday, seemed to confirm Ryan will bring that type of defense to the Cowboys.

“I know what type of defense he has,” said Ware, who lead the NFL with 15.5 sacks in 2010. “He’s a pressure guy and will do a lot with the versatile guys that we have. I know it’s going to be good for us.”

DALLAS -- Whenever Jason Witten’s career comes to an end, he might have a career in coaching.

At the Tazon Latino V flag football game on Wednesday, Team Jason Witten beat Team Tony Romo, 41-34, at the NFL Experience. The game was played with a number of former NFL stars and Latino celebrities.

“You give the ball to Rich Gannon and let him go to work,” Witten said. “I think Tony’s disappointed. He tried cheating at the end and threw a pass.”

They will have to adjust personel some to make that pressure happen. Wade tried to make that happen and the problem is that the ILBers have never been able to get there when they do blitz... makes it too easy to predict what the D will do... Lee should help that some, but they need a stud at ILBer...

In Phillips’ scheme, “it depended on what the situation was,” Ware said. “I’m talking all the time, like a Philly. I think a lot more crazy looks and blitz like Wade but with a lot more crazy looks. Guys will have more responsibilities.”

I pray we have a bunch of new players if they will have "more responsibilities" because that Defensive bunch last year could not handle what they had under Wade......

Sounds exciting. Like someone mentioned, hopefully we have football smart players that can handle it.

LOL @ Witten
"I had Rich Gannon, Marcus Allen and Tim Brown," Witten said. "I took him down. He did have Darren Woodson and Warren Moon. But we were the champs. We won 41-34 and it was all coaching."

Won't it be amazing to see the odd twist, corner blitz and zone dogs. The A gap ILB blitz kinda got played out didnt it?

Bradie James had 8 sks in 2008. 2009-2010 Wade stopped giving him as many opportunities and used Brooking.

Yeah I remember when Wade took over the defense and Bradie had 7 sacks in the last 8 games or something and 1 in the first 8 games. Was crazy. I was confused nto to see that.

The ILBs have been able to get there, but then Wade would ride that success into the ground, sending that same blitz every time instead of mixing things up by moving the blitzer around or blitzing the other ILB. Never understood that.

With Ryan's defense, I predict OScan will get like 8 sacks next year. He likes to send the secondary on a blitz.

I can't tell if you're serious or not.

I really hope you're joking.

I don't think he is. 8 may be a little too much, but I could see him getting around 4-5 sacks next year. Ryan loves to blitz corners a lot, and Scandrick is our best at doing that, so I expect to see a lot of that next year.

Exactly! There needs to be churning and I mean within the starters. 4-6 of them on defense.

If they're not heady enough to run Wade's schemes they're not heady enough to run Ryan's.

Yes, teaching the scheme is important and half the battle, but I've seen a serious consistent lack of success on that side of the ball over the last 8 season's regardless of their head coordinator.

That's still a crap ton of sacks for a corner. 8 is laughable. 5 seems a bit high too but at least is reasonable lol.

Charles Woodson might be the besting blitzing corner the league has seen in a few years and he only had 2 sacks this year.

The most sacks by a defensive back since 2000 is 5. Scandrick doesn't even start so I still think 4-5 is a high number IMO.

4-6 starters? Wow.

We're not THAT bad.

If players come in and beat them out fine. But there's no reason to churn that many starters just to churn.

Ball and Brooking are the only starters that need to be churned.
