I know hindsight is 20/20 but try to imgaine yourself draft time last year and knowing what you know about each player pre-draft (measurables, film, etc.)

Which player would you draft at #18 if both players were available in the same draft year and why.

Fight!

I think you'd have to take DeCastro based on the rankings. He was the much higher-rated prospect.

Dallas wouldn't even take Frederick with the 18th pick, but trading down for him for an extra third improved the value some.

That doesn't mean Frederick won't have a better career, but if you trust your board, you take DeCastro if he's available at that point.

Some teams would rank Frederick above DeCastro but that purely on a scheme by scheme basis.

From a pure football talent perspective, DeCastro was a better prospect.

I think Frederick almost has to end up at guard with Dallas' current OL. He's going to have to play a mostly man scheme to be successful and Costa is a better man scheme player at C than Bernadeau is at G. DeCastro had better scheme versatility.

I am not overly excited about the Frederick pick...

But I'd have been even more disappointed with DeCastro last year at the cost of Claiborne.

I didn't get the love fest with DeCastro last year.

If DeCastro was in this years draft, he would have been a top 5 pick.
