They discussed the top DL but on Aaron Donald they spoke about something regaurding him.

There are some people in the organization, that like him, but some that dont like him. Didnt say who does and who doesnt.

I'm thinking that would probably go for just about any guy in the draft, including guys like Manziel and Clowney.

Would love Clowney. Would be a draft day dream come true.

You who I'd like the Cowboys to draft? Reggie White circa 1985.

....What? Has about as much chance of happening as the Cowboys drafting Clowney.

Just about any of the top defensive linemen in this draft would likely be a vast improvement over what we have.

The people in the organization who don't like Donald are probably guys who put too much emphasis on measurables. I know some of them really want length in their defensive linemen.

I'd bet that Marinelli is one who loves Donald and I'm hoping that he has enough clout in the war room to over ride anyone saying Aaron is too short. IMO, he would be ideal at the 3-tech for Marinelli.

Agreed.

Clowney in the 1st
Manziel in the 2nd
Donald in the 3rd
Barr in the 4th
Clinton Dix in the 5th
Watkins in the 6th
And Robinson in the 7th

Think that would be a decent draft if the dominoes somehow fell our way

So would Jernigan. I think if both are on the board they go Jernigan.

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=106898&draftyear=2014&genpos=DT

These guys are who I check names with and it looks they have him rated #2 DT out of 228 DT's and 22nd out of 3283 players.

01/25/14 - 2014 Senior Bowl, Helped Themselves: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh - It was Donald, not Ford, who earned most of the buzz early in the week, whipping interior offensive linemen with his quickness, tenacity and underrated strength. Like Ford, Donald's size (6-foot-1, 288 pounds) limits his fits in the NFL but his ability to pressure quarterbacks could earn him a first round selection. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

The Cowboys are good at hiding their interest in players before the draft, to me this sounds like the typical smokescreen of downplaying interest in a player who would be a perfect fit for them if he dropped enough.

That's probably true about almost all prospects.

Marinelli is the only one that really counts. I'm hopeful that Marinelli gets the opportunity to personally work out the top DL prospects like Callahan worked out Frederick.

I hope not. If Marinelli is all that counts, why do we have scouts?

I think it's certainly plausible that some people in-house don't like his measurements.
