This is clearly gambling. I don't do fantasy sports but I like to do occasional football parlay cards when I am passing thru Delaware or do a few bets when I am in Vegas. That said, if gambling on individual games aren't allowed, these fantasy games shouldn't be allowed either. If one is going to be legal, the other should be legal too.

Gambling is one thing, unregulated gambling is a rip-off waiting to happen.

They have already been accused of using Inside information, betting and winning big on the competitor's site, having sharks winning most of the money even on the beginner games and using scripts to enter 100s and 1000s of times to guarantee winning.

The poker sites had it all and still couldn't help themselves from cheating. These DFS are making up to 20% and that isn't enough for them either.

Chris Chrsitie has been trying to get sports betting legalized in his AC casinos. The NFL has fought them every step of the way. Now they are in bed with these DFS sites because of the ad money. The NFL doesn't officially have a stake in these companies but owners like Kraft and JJones have invested 100s of millions.

We hope this trend continues along with due consideration for over 56 million sports fans across the country who enjoy playing fantasy sports. We remain committed to working with all relevant authorities to ensure that our industry operates in a manner that is transparent and fair for all consumers.

"New York's actions today are an unfortunate example of a state government stifling innovation, technology and entrepreneurship and acting without full and fair consideration of the interests of consumers."

W/ 56 million fans playing on their site...That's not going away anytime soon unless the Government tell them so. And then the people can go to the polls and vote those who don't want gambling out. This is far from over.

A cease and desist can be fought against and won, yes or no?

Do they have any legal legs to stand on? Or is it cut and dry. I'm talking in the long run. Not just the current answer.

Second of all, the federal law to which you refer, the UIGEA, clearly indicates that individual states can make up their own minds on the matter. So the federal government isn't going to do a darn thing to any of these states outlawing it.

Funny how the government won't impinge on this issue with states, but will jump right in when the government agenda is in jeopardy because of the will of the people differs.

I'm in my 50's and have been playing FF for right at 30 years now and know it existed before then because we didn't invent it. Since the late 90's I've been involved in at least 5 leagues a year. I'm not trying to defend FF but I fail to see how it's ruined the NFL after all those years. Or am I missing something?

The NFL has catered to FF because of all the interest and money. Hard to deny that FF isnt a driving force behind a lot of decisions the league makes.

See the fantasy sites have hired David Boies as their attorney. Not hard to figure who reccomended him. Jerry and Kraft have investments to protect. Dont see NY winning this now.

Me too, irks the **** out of me that the government continues to think they need to make decisions for individuals, hate the nanny state mentality and aside from reasonable regulation, state & federal governments need let it sink or swim and let people choose for themselves whether they want to participate.

The DFS's don't have a legal leg to stand on, no matter who their lawyer is. The law is pretty darn clear: Gambling on sports (of any kind) is illegal in NY. This is actually in the NY State Constitution, not some obscure law passed in 1914.

As noted above, they essentially need to convince a judge that DFS's aren't gambling. Good luck with that.
