You know..

I think it would help if they started testing for drugs in college.

That's where the recreational drugs get traction..

nobody is checking there and the athletes are using pot for pain relief and recovery like the rest of us have a beer or scotch.

That goes un-noticed in our society generally unless that gets abused.

This generation has different ways of dealing with things.

Take Brett Farve and his painkiller addiction.

How often was he suspended for that?

Never.

So things are different now.

Instead of moving towards hundreds of colleges testing thousands of athletes for pot, how about the NFL just QUIT testing for pot.

although I think getting suspended for marijuana is silly, it's the rules to play in the NFL......so I'd say pass a substance test is a good start. Just as silly is he's got the ability and gifts to be something but have to question his thinking to jeopardize all in front of him just to smoke pot.

Best behavior, play the run well enough, and get some pressure first then a few sacks. Disrupt some plays.

Play well at both run plugging and pass rush. Also, for your sake and that of the team and fans, be strong and ditch the doobies.

He has to make sure and stay clean and build upon his technique he displayed in TC/preseason and game 1 before being injured. I think he will need to add a bit more bulk to carry through and entire season especially after week 10

  • More size and strength. Should be around 260-275 ish.
  • Should be giving Tyron troubles in practice
  • Get some sacks in preseason against 1st and 2nd teams

Quit testing in the off season.... test during the week or on game day.....then they forfeit that games pay check, as well as missing that game. But also they repay a prorated portion of their signing bonus / guaranteed money.
Multiple offenses, add more games and more fines, double, triple the fines at each subsequent occurrence.
Yes this hurts the team on game day. But let the team do their own discipline as well.

After all, don't need guys out there playing high, look at it as a pregame warmup injury.

Gregory was outstanding in training camp. He consistently stood out in practice and picked up a sack in each of his three preseason games. That carried over into the regular season opener against the New York Giants when he had three quarterback pressures in the first half.

But Gregory suffered a high ankle sprain in the third quarter of that game that forced him to miss the next four weeks. He wasn't nearly as effective when he returned. Gregory failed to record a sack in his rookie season but did record 16 quarterback pressures — fourth on the team — in limited duty. He had just 11 tackles.

Gregory is an undersized defensive end who depends on speed to be successful. The high ankle sprain was a significant injury that impacted his burst and ability to make an impact as a rookie.

Gregory must sit out the first four games of the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. The penalty will take a little more than $143,000 out of his pocket and could threaten another $370,000 he has in guaranteed money...

CC - thanks so much for these articles. Ever since the DMN went subscription I just don't read it as much - this helps a lot!
