I was introduced to Wade Phillips by his dad, Bum, several years ago, when he was the DC in San Diego, a couple of years later I ran into him at a pub in downtown San Angelo TX, he was there with Mack Brown, Nick Saban, Tommy Tuberville and their staffs. I went up to him to say hello and he took about half an hour of his time to talk football with me.. About two hours later, I was playing pool with my staff and he comes over to say goodbye and wish me luck. Class act. Ive got several more stories, I'll share as we go on.

Had classes at ECU with Robert Jones and John Jett. Obviously pre-Cowboys.

Met Romo at team hotel when Bledsoe was the starter. Cool as cloud be. Spent time and signed/talked with everyone.

Met La'roi Glover a couple of times. Once at hotel in Minny, then in Dallas. So cool for a guy his size. Scared the hell out of us the first time me met him. Came out of nowhere dressed in this red and black sweatsuit. Could have sworn he was the devil! Couldn't have been nicer.

My son (around 10 at the time) spent a couple hours hanging out with Pete Hunter in the hotel in Minny. Hoping to meet Roy Williams. Pete was super cool. Roy W made every effort to avoid spending time with the 4-5 kids in the lobby.

Met Staubach briefly. My hero as a kid. Few minutes at a signing. He is the best.

Funniest encounter was in Minnesota. Big time fan boy was camping out for Drew Henson's autograph. Henson came out with his mom and blew off everyone. The fan boy yelled out "You don't even start". Henson's mom got all pissed off and started yelling before Drew pulled her off.

I literally ran into Randy White one time. I was at a race and he was there along with Joe Klecko on a promotional appearance. I was walking along, not paying attention to where I was going, rounded a corner and ran right into Randy White, nearly knocked me on my behind. He grabbed me to keep me from falling, said something like "You ok there hoss?". I apologized for not watching where I was going. He slapped me on the back and apologized for running into me. Klecko was with him and said something too, don't remember what. Asked if I was ok or something. I was a little dazed, it was like walking into a brick wall.

Randy is a great guy, he ran several football camps for me. He teaches defensive linemen how to incorporate martial arts into their line play.

I've met Emmitt at Bay Hill for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He was super nice and signed autographs for everybody.

I played golf with Moose Johnston a few years ago. He was the one that told me that Garrett was the 'answer' for the Cowboys as a coach and described to me in detail the issues with Wade as a HC and how that was hurting the offense. It made me realize how important the HC is for both sides of the ball and while you may have a HC that is 'offensive minded' or 'defensive minded', coaches with good track records are still responsible for development of all players.

I met Tony Dorsett when I was 13 and he was playing here in Denver.

He came to the hospital I was at with a broken leg (fibula - full body cast for two months) to meet younger kids and my mom told him I was a huge fan but preferred to remember him as a Cowboy and asked if he would stop in my room really quickly. He came in, said hi, told me that he preferred the Cowboys too, than signed a nerf football for me and left.

I kinda met Ditka. Was in Vegas playing craps and he stopped by the table and began betting on my rolls. He won several times and I imagine several thousand dollars. He then proceeded to take his stack of chips, arm candy and hit the road. No customary thank you, nice rolling, throw the good luck roller a chip, good byes, nothen.......
