Are you like me and wish that PI was called again like it used to be?

If you were upset about the catch rule then I would have to agree with you but it's tough enough to cover a receiver these days in the NFL. You pretty much need to guarantee them a free release and allow them to catch the ball before you can inflict bodily harm:(
Under these rules a lot of receivers that played in the seventies would be in the Hall of Fame:)

No. PI is the most significant penalty in the game and should not be given with regularity as in years past. If there is any question, the defense should get the benefit of the doubt, not the other way around. I understand that fans want points and offense but getting cheap TD’s off 50 yard penalties is stupid and wrong.

The thing I hate about PI calls in the NFL is the spot foul nature of them. If they just made them all 15-yarders (and maybe anything under 15 yards past the LOS is just a holding call) I don't think it would be such a killer penalty, especially when it's botched by the refs.

I'd like to see it called less due to the current spot foul consequence...too game changing IMO. At the same time it's hard to argue for them to change it to the college 15 yard rule. Defenses could really use that to their advantage late in games and it could severely hinder an offense's ability to go down the field. I think what we have is the best we can hope for but I definitely don't want to see it called more than it already is.

a 15 yrd penalty and automatic first down would not be used by the defense in anyway that would impact the game more than the stupid spot foul. The game can't end on a defensive penalty, I've watched a ton of college football and I've never felt it was abused by the defense. I've hated that rule all my life.

The end of college football games are not like the end of NFL games....really the only way I can put that. Every once in a while you see a college ending that's very NFLish (thinking 2016 NCG) but not often. The rule would be abused differently at the NFL level.

Wait...we should make it even harder to play defense in this league? The rules are slanted enough toward the offense?

No thank you. I'd allow more contact not less.
This is what I came in here to say. This league caters to offenses more than enough; bout time to give the other 11 a chance.

My issue is the arm guarding. Receivers have to basically catch the ball with one hand these days because the DB is basically holding one arm down and preventing them from using it to catch. Get rid of arm guarding and I would be more than happy.

Agree. They can hand fight all the way down the field , even when the ball is nowhere close to being caught. Call a foul if they arm bar when the ball is catchable....

If they were allowed to challenge non-calls of holding that would expose the BS with the 6 games or whatever it was with no holding calls against the D if those challenges were getting made every week...

THIS

Make a catch, a catch, again. Then loosen up the rules for defending.

Someone will find a way to exploit anything on the NFL level.

Nobody ever thought there was a reason to say you also shouldn't be able to end a game on an offensive penalty until this Ravens play (one of the funniest play calls ever):

I don't mind it. The rules have been so skewed over the years towards the offense. It got ridiculous how limited the defenders were to try and stop their opponent. They are letting the defense play somewhat again.

I want less of the refs influence in the game, not more of it.
