Anyone know exactly why Dallas released Dan Bailey? Seems like a dumb idea unless a real reason is provided.
How long is Frederick supposed to be out? (approximately)

Dallas should run RB screen plays. A lot and often. They don't. When they have, it worked really well. Elliott is suited to huge gains in screen plays... Receivers are mediocre... O-line is tremendous. Dallas should run a lot more RB screens.
Where have you been bro? Freeze dried? Lol. Joking.

Bailey was getting a little worse every year and they made the decision after this last injury to cut him and save 3 million.

Fredbeard is literally week to week but is coming back soon. I think a month at most. Already been getting treated for a few weeks and said he feels a lot better and stronger.

It’s a plan to use Elliot more in passing this year. Screens and dump offs.

Back in the 70's and early 80's the Cowboys were the absolute best at executing several variations of the screen play.

Go Cowboys!

Then Garrett came along and simplified the playbook. Removed screens from it because it took too much time to learn.

He is a simple man.

On Bailey, I think they're betting that he's peaked and his best years are behind him and that this cheaper kicker will perform as well or better than he would have. There's no way to know for sure, but that's what they're betting on. I think you're right that RB screen plays could be executed successfully and help the team win.

Ahhhh the screen..I think i can add to to pit if nothing else. Linehan realized good or bad, if you dont have the players, you wont be effective.. I cant say that its always right, just what I have seen as their philosophy..dunbar and Romo last time I saw it used effectively. Im not counting that whatever Lucky was.

COWBOYS use it to counter blitzes and matchups that are not working. DOESENT explain Not using ELLIOT in a screen game more, But I think thats changing and Austin gonna be that guy..Speed is their need there..

In order to run a screen effectively and successfully requires a lot of time practicing it, and why few teams have success doing it.
The practice restrictions that came with the last CBA really hurt the NFL from a coaching and fan perspective more than any other variable.

baily was inconsistent and couldn't get his groove back. he admitted to it himself. his salary was $4 mill. you pay a kicker $4mil you want consistency/ Maher was close enough to let baily go. plus dallas has a very good history of finding kickers, in fact a lot of them still around.

time table for Fredrick is indefinite. with this syndrome, you never know. but there is precedence they do return. could be next year. we make plans as if he is not available all year.

we wil run more screen plays, but doing it too much, or doing too much of anything makes it ineffective. the key is to not top your hand, so the defense has to guess and has to defend the whole field. I think the WRs will surprise you this year. give them about 3 or 4 games....

You've got bad memory bro.

Dak, Zeke, the Cowboys offense and the Steelers defense disagree. :D:cool:

This. It’s not that we’re bad at screens, not with Zeke and our athletic OL able to get to the second level, and a couple receivers who are good at blocking... the problem is that we don’t use it enough (in the past).

You make some excellent points here. Too bad Bailey is gone, the receivers are pedestrian and Garrett is still dumb.
