Does defense win championships now?

We have gone round and round and much hand wringing has occurred with regarding to our capabilities to win with a top flight defense.

Much has been conveyed in terms of our QB not being good enough to compliment our defense. Much has been said about our defense not being able to overcome the shortcomings on the offensive side of the ball...

Does last night convince anyone new? I've been convinced since this defense began to show itself early this season. Is anyone else now convinced that this defense can lead us to a championship? A great defense can neutralize any high powered offense. QB pressure can completely wreck an offensive game plan... Just ask Dak about that one.

Our defense has peaked at the right time and it doesn't matter who we play from here on out.

I very much agree. There are exceptions to every rule... The Chiefs with Mahomes are fabulous without a strong defense. But most of the time, you are better off with a strong defense to make that key 3rd down stop in a game to give your offense that one more shot.

We all want to believe it’s enough but ultimately until we hoist the Lombardi many will raise concerns and doubts.

That's fair. But just recognize that it is indeed possible. (because it is)
Of course it’s possible or we wouldn’t still be in the tournament.

But your stronger beliefs don’t necessarily provide everyone the same level of confidence.

Yes the defense was outstanding and made Russell Wilson look mortal. Of course we have the #7 ranked defense so it’s not a big surprise

And on the other hand I was wrong in my “one and done” prediction as Dakota was allowed to do what he does best, Run. It should now be obvious to everyone that he is first and foremost a Running Quarterback.

Seattle came in with the #17 ranked defense and as far as the passing game we left “ some meat on the bone”. If Seattle leaves a spy on Prescott we lose this game so my hat is off to Dak’s running abilities.

We’ll see how’s far his running can take us but I am always pleased with a win.

The real key to our success is one Scottie Linehan. He made a course change in the second half last night and finally allowed Dak to run. We know the defense is gon defense. We just need everyone on the offensive side to hold up their end of the bargain. Scottie did so last night...

Let me also add that there was one play where Dak audibled out of the called play to a QB run to the left . . It was beautiful. Why? Because it showed growth and maturity at the QB position which is something we all want to see.

The best TEAMS win championships. It’s great to have either a great defense or a great offense, and recent SB history shows you can win with either. But being able to come together as a team, being aware of and playing to its strengths consistently is what wins in the playoffs.

The old statement “Defense wins championships” is still somewhat true. But the statement, “Great teams win championships” is even more true. The team that can play best as a team will win this year’s SB.

Last year's final four teams were all top 5 in scoring defense. But as we saw in the SB, it helps to be able to score too.

Irvin said he has never bought into Defenses win championships, he said Defenses that take the ball away win championships.

Well the good news is that New Orleans and Philadelphia have among the worst passing defenses in the league so if our Qb is forced to pass he’s gonna have a chance to spread the field and open up the run

If we are to go all the way he will have to have a big passing game in at least one game. They know they have to key on Ezekiel and eventually they will stuff the run and THATS when Rayne will have rely on his arm and THATS when he will prove himself on the biggest stage

When he does that it will be evident and will be Gladly acknowledged. The debate will be over

And for the record I don’t mind interceptions, I just can’t stand timidity. If we are to go out I want to see him slinging that rock.........but that’s just me

Too early to tell. Need to see how BAL and CHI do today, the two best D's from each conference.

That was a great game last night for those of us wishing for the return of real football instead of this wall-less arena ball. I hope KC gets knocked off in the division round. Get back to Football, not QB ball.

I want to believe this, but Wilson had success whenever he threw anything 15+ yards deep. We're fortunate that their game plan was to stick with the running game, and fortunate again that they didn't adjust when it was obvious their running game wasn't working.

I hope you're right though.

He's not. He's a QB who can run.

If SEA leaves a spy on Prescott, our passing game takes off. For every action there's a reaction. A spy takes an extra defender out of the passing zones.

No, but you still need a good one. If you have a great defense, you still need a decent offense to win it all.
