I feel like every team has unlimited cap space and funds and we're capped. I wonder where ET goes now. He isn't coming here.
And that’s the thing, this year they are not and have a lot of flexibility. Jerry flapped his gums the last 3 years talking about taking advantage of having a starting QB on a rookie deal. Tell me, what the hell did they do take advantage of it????

Heck, at this rate Earl’s gonna get paid like a QB, lol.

I actually think there are some things working in favor of us landing Earl as opposed to some of these other guys.

1. Earl is almost 30, top rated safety every year he plays but 30 is a number teams don't like to throw big money/long term deals to.
2. He's coming off injury
3. He lives in Texas
4. He wants to play for the Cowboys
5. No state income taxes in Texas
6. Who wants to go to San Francisco to work?!?!
7. The Cowboys need a guy like him on Defense.

I understand he wants to be the highest paid safety but he will ultimately consider all things. It's not over yet.

With that said, some raggedy team will give him a 10 year 140 million dollar deal (Jacksonville)....

If these teams didn't draft so poorly they wouldn't have to do this.

And the Cowboys win Superbowls by doing it Jones and Willys way. Who cares if they don't draft well. Almost every team in the league has played for a championship since we last did.

But they sure can pick a QB and a offensive scheme
12 mil is just crazy for him though
KC hasn't won anything and yes they drafted Mahomes but how many years did it take them. Let's not act like they draft All-pros regularly

This safety market is crazy.
Don’t think it’s crazy, it’s what it should be. Last year safeties could have been had for peanuts. How many slot wr’s and TE’s are out there. Safeties that can cover are worth their weight in gold. The problem with us we think someone is a FA because they suck. That is usually never the case.

Chiefs and Rams seem to be interested in winning the Super Bowl instead of the salary cap championship.

At this point, all the Chiefs and Rams are winning is the FA Spending Championship. Rarely have teams that spent big in FA lived up to the expectation. Just look at the Eagles' "Dream Team" and the Giants. The Rams did last FA period and got to the Super Bowl, but they got there on the back of what was one of the most egregious blown calls in playoff history (and, if history is any indicator, they won't be there this year). In reality, it should've been NO and NE, neither who hand out big FA contracts. And even Philly the year before was judicious.

FA is a valuable tool, but only for a short term solution. Signing a player to a 5 or 6 year deal with large guarantees is a recipe for disaster. It makes it very difficult to move on from that player if things don't work out. By the way, that goes for singing your own FAs.

Interesting how poor the money was for safeties last year and now the GM's are spending money like they are at a strip club .
Cap went up by 10 million again. Let me print this in 3 inch headlines... we have enough cap space to sign any free agent we want along with resign any of our own guys. Cap hell is a myth. Jacksonville cleared 39 million ina day. Hiwue Rosman goes out and makes moves, while we sit on our hands and take up 20 million ona stupid franchise tag and bring back Witten who has not been good for 3 years. Being Jerry’s boy is not a criteria for signing someone.

Which is why if we don't walk away with one Stephen Jones has lost it and might just worse than Jerry.
I don’t think it’s a question he’s worse. He’s an ultra conservative tight ***. When they installed a cash floor, I never thought this organization would be under it, but here we are.
