Not sure the NFCE is that weak. Both teams that made the playoffs came close to making it to the NFC championship game. Dallas took a dump against the Rams. Stopped the run most of the year and shut down Seattle's #1 rushing attack in the WC game. That Rams game was a letdown, but I don't see CJ doing that again. More so Philly is thatball doesn't get through Ashlon's hands. And we see how Dallas beat the Saints last year.

Dallas and philly should be good. Giants will suck and the skins shouldnt be as good either.

Of course. And both were playoff teams. Look what the Patriots have to go against in their division every year. That's been a weak division.

Skins were better last year than expected. If Smith doesnt get hurt they most likely win the division. But I see this season as just a 2 team race.

They don't have a defense that can lead a team to the Super Bowl. They are weak in the middle of the DL and did next to nothing to address it in FA. Christian Covington doesn't count.

This is what got them eliminated in the playoffs and if they played that game again today I would expect the same result.

I agree that safety and defensive tackle are still the question marks. We don't have a Warren Sapp or Henry Melton like this version of the 4-3 needs or a Fletcher Cox, players who can consistently be disruptive at the 3-tech spot. We don't have a John Lynch like Tampa had when its defense carried the Bucs to the Super Bowl.

I love the Quinn acquisition. I think he gives us a player opposite Lawrence who offenses truly have to be worried about. (Gregory was getting there, but he's got to be considered dead to us because of the drug issues.) I even like the Covington acquisition as a rotational piece. However, this defense is predicated on those middle guys: the 3-tech, the WLB and MLB and having that one playmaking safety. We've got the linebackers, but we need those other two stars in order to go from very good to elite.

Let me add that Quinn appears to be better against the run than I thought. I think we'll try to save him some healthwise by rotating him out in clear running situations, but it's good to hear that he's a three-down player.

Yep. Meanwhile the Rams and Patriots fielded 3 current or former all-pros at the DT position in the super bowl. Some teams just "get" it.

Danny Shelton would help.

Need a starting 3T and 1T. Collins, Woods & Covington are all nice depth pieces, but none of them are high quality starters.

So then you do agree that Dak shouldn't be paid what those quarterbacks you mentioned are being paid.

Like i said, its sooo simple.....throw dak to the gutter because he sucks and go get a better one from the QB tree...easy as that.....then we can all party like its two thousand and Hutchinson two!

No, instead we should rush to overpay him so we can watch the playoffs from home - just like the Vikings, Lions, and Raiders did.

I would say one more season/ partial season of evaluation before making that decision.

What got them killed by the Rams was Marinelli and his stupid 4-2-5 scheme. (And Marinellis stubborn refusal to change.)

The Rams killed that defense.
What gets glossed over a lot is the fact that the Rams had 2 weeks to get ready for that game..

Plus it was on their home field.

We were getting one week to get ready and coming off an emotional game against the Seahawks.

That is a big difference and the whole reason good teams win with those advantages.

This team has now lost against the Packers in 2016 with a home field advantage thru the playoffs and lost without it in 2018.

This team now should realize if they are going to seriously challenge..

they can not start 3-5 and expect the other teams to lose their QBs and fall back to them.

Also I do not care for losing all our pre-season games and then thinking we can just turn it on when the gun sounds.

This team has to play immediately and the coaches have to see to it they are ready.

Not playing any starters in pre-season was a huge mistake.

They had two weeks to prepare, Richards had one week and he spent that week interviewing for HC positions

I will disagree, failure to adjust is what lost that game. That ran the front slant until the final whistle.
