*All* our returning TEs and WRs beat Cobb in yards per target last year. Even Rico and Noah.
He gets 40+ yards per game, but the efficiency per target was poor, and even his yardage totals have been consistently sliding for years.

People are talking like he's a lock for the team, and I don't see it in these numbers. He looks like a Nolan Carroll. We signed thinking to cover ourselves, but don't have to stick with him if other guys are panning out.

I'm hoping they get a discount out of Hurns and use him as our slot possession WR.

I would've been cool with Isabella at #58. But I guess it's inevitable that you have to plug some holes with stopgaps. I think we should be fine milking a year out of Cobb while we look for a long term solution next year.

Not sure if Hurns will be ready coming off that gruesome injury, but if Pollard is as nice as they think he is, he should be able to steal some snaps away in the slot.

As long as Cooper and Gallup get 1000 yards receiving we should be ok at receiver. Witten and Cobb are never going to produce like they used too. All they have to be are viable threats for the offense to work. The offense will be about Zeke, Cooper, and Gallup.

His yards/reception the past 4 years are better than Beasley (11.0 vs 10.3) and better than Witten (11.0 vs 9.7).

Small Sample Size
Rico and Jarwin don't have enough catches for yards/reception to be meaningful.

Outside WR vs Slot WR

Cobb/ Beasley are slot WRs. Slot WRs have lower yards/reception than outside WRs.

Cobb was much better than Beasley earlier in his career and his "declining" years have still been better than both Beasley's career yards/reception and Beasley's past 4 years.

Beasley (past 4 years):
yards, receptions, average
2355, 228, 10.3

Cobb (past 4 years):

Im not big fan of Cobb because he has been in decline over the last few years. He just doesnt look like the same player he was a few years ago. Of course his numbers might not show it because he has Rodgers throwing him the football in a pass happy offense. Maybe he can stay healthy this year and help the Cowboys.

A quality add, fella'.

The turn-around at receiver, since the start of last season, is truly amazing and quick. The group is now formidable.

Are you intrigued with the additions of Guyton and Johnson, with their speeds?

I share your doubts about Cobb, but Hurns is basically a waste of a roster spot.

Not sure where you're getting your numbers, but both Beasley and Cobb have averaged 10.1 yards over the past four seasons according to Pro Football Reference, unless my math is wrong.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/C/CobbRa00.htm

and of course Cobb was better than Beasley early, the guy was a 2nd round pick.
