Jerry seriously needs to use all his pull to negotiate a massive player compensation package increase in exchange for the additional two NFL games to be played a year - that's essentially the major negotiation for the upcoming CBA...

He really needs to use all his power to increase the salary cap as much as possible for our immediate and future interests.

Think about it, if he could somehow swing a salary cap ceiling increase to heights not likely to be spent by all but the highest revenue clubs - then we’d be getting a de-facto erosion of the salary cap.

If Jerry truly cared for the good folks rooting for the Cowboys, he'd be making amends for his past mistake of influencing the implementation of the current salary cap...

Furthermore, it'd make all us fans less uptight about players wanting to get paid.

Lord, I wish there wasn't an NFL salary cap. I seriously don't care about the other teams or parity...

They will never do it. I hate the cap also, but the league LOVES the parity, the networks love it as well.

Would never happen. Jerry was one of the proponents of the cap. It guarantees a lid on player personnel expenses - which every owner should be in favor of (and probably is).

So you are saying JG and Jerry can't win without more cap space? We need a new owner and Head coach.

I just have to laugh at fans who think they have it all figured out but can never get away from thinking like a fan. As just a fan, yeah it would be great if Jerry could just outspend nearly everyone by why would anyone in their right mind want to significantly increase their operating cost when they don't have to and are currently making a clear cut fortune. Jerry wanted the cap and he would probably vote to reduce it before he would vote to increase it.

Problem is, even with a cap increase, every team has the same luxury. We can't win with the pre-existing cap ceiling - probably wouldn't win with a larger one, either.

I did enjoy the 90's when teams just got who they wanted and paid them whatever. I liked it even more in the 70's and 80's when players retired from the team that drafted them most of the time. However, the current system is pretty fun to, who we keep, who is worth it, who is isn't, the overall strategy of team building, etc are all enhanced because of the salary cap. If anything, they need to lower it and quit paying these guys all this money, it's out of hand what they are getting paid to play a game, same for all the sports.

Not gonna happen. Jerry and the NFL makes far too much money because of the salary cap. It keeps player contracts low (low in terms of the amount of money each team makes) and keeps fans thinking there team has a chance every year. If I'm the players union I'm doing whatever I can to eliminate the salary cap. If I'm the owners I'm doing whatever I can to keep the salary set up exactly how it is right now.

One thing everyone is forgetting is that even monumental increases in the cap wouldn't dent Dallas Cowboys profitability.

With additional success the Cowboys would continue posting exponentially higher net revenues...

Hell, after nearly 1/4 a decade without a SB the Cowboys still clear ~$500M/year...

We get WAY more revenue per year than any other club...

Silly person....... do you really think Jerry is the least bit concerned about the fans? There's not a single decision he has ever made as owner that was influenced by the fans.

The one and only time he cared was when he needed the support of the fans to get his stadium built. He knew he wouldn't get the support (and tax dollars) he needed without hiring Bill Parcells and fooling the fans into thinking he was really interested in building a winning team. He didn't care then and he doesn't care now.

How about modifying the cap by allowing teams to sign players they drafted to whatever they want? Doesn't good drafting and player evaluation mean anything anymore? Just look at this roster. Most of the key players are players they did the leg work and drafted. Elliot, Prescott, Martin, Frederick, VanderEsch, Lee, J Smith, etc. Keep the current rookie contract situation. It shouldn't come down to if we sign player a, b, or c then we have to part ways with d, e and f.

Everyone equally would benefit from this. Raise the cap, and all the contracts will just go up commensurately and we're in the same place we are now, just higher multipliers.

But instead, it'll take 25 mil a year to keep Amari, 40m for Dak.

How much parity is there in the NFL? It usually isn't hard to predict who the end teams will be and top seeds in the playoffs regularly advance. Sure, you do have teams come out of nowhere like the Eagles to win it in 2017 but they are the exception. Before the season starts, you can look at a handful of teams and predict with good confidence that they will be there at the end. I get the NFL is a week to week league and anyone can win any given sunday but overall, the NFL season is pretty predictable as a whole. Especially the playoffs.

Rookie contracts do not need to be 4-5 years when the life span of a player is pretty short in this league. 3 years max. And no team control for an extra year. Do away with that. And a lot of this gets solved.

Zeke does not need to be playing on a rookie deal for 5 years of his career, especially when those 5 years are going to be some of his best.

Yes, increase the player portions of revenue.

If suspended you lose your guarantees for that one year instead of losing them for the remainder of your contract. That would be my change.

Oh. The ball would be placed at the ten yard line whether you're going for two or kicking the extra point.
