It's a common thing we do as fans- look at results one week and interpret that to mean we should be able to do that same thing every week. It rarely works out that way in the NFL.

Let me say up front- I think the Cowboys will beat the skins Sunday. But I also expect a completely different type of game than the romp we saw last week against the midgets. Here are the reasons I think this week’s game will be a tougher matchup:
  • The skins have a better defense than the midgets. (Almost any team does at this point) Their DL is pretty salty against the run which means our running game may not get out of the blocks, at least early.
  • Wash likes to blitz more than ny so we will probably see a lot more blitz packages than last week with a ny secondary that was too green to trust in many blitz situations. I expect the skins to send a lot of blitzers early and often. If we pick it up, we will destroy it.
  • It’s on the road and in DC which is usually tougher for us than at home.
  • Skins’ secondary is better on paper than ny. They signed S Landon Collins this offseason and he’s better than any S they had last year. Josh Norman is overrated at CB but the corner on the other side Quinton Dunbar (who missed last yr due to injury) isn’t bad. Overall this defense is pretty good.
  • Their OL is below average so I expect to see DLaw putting more pressure on this week. He’s had a week to get in better playing shape and I think he will step up more against a weak OL.
  • Case Keenum at QB doesn’t scare anyone but if he has time, he can make decent throws. He’s competent, not spectacular. Like most average QBs, if there’s pressure, he’s not going to make plays.
  • I respect Adrian Peterson- especially the AP of 5 years ago. Now? He’s essentially a backup pressed into duty because their starter is hurt.
Bottom Line- I expect us to win in a close game. Something like 20-16 or 24-17. Their defense may make it tough early, so I expect suicide counselors to be available for our fans on the Game Day thread if we don’t score immediately or the skins get a first down, lol.

If we don’t “dominate”, it doesn’t mean this team has taken a step back or that Kellen Moore wasn’t as good as last week. It’s the NFL, and every game is different week to week. Just win baby!

Nice try Bob but we all know that if we don't dominate Kellen Moore will go from genius to idiot. Dak Prescott will go from Nascar to bus driver, and of course Rod Marinelli should spend his remaining days in A Place for Dad.:)

Without the aid of special teams or defensive touchdowns I see it is a 30-20 victory for the Cowboys:flagwave:

I like the different style of defense the Commanders play.
It will give us more of a feel of how Keelen adjusts to his opponent.

I think it’s a bad QB, bad WR’s and a bad O-line so we should be in a good position against their offense.

I think they have bad LB’s and missing Allen really hurts there run defense so I’m expecting 100 yards + from Zeke.

28-17 and a comfortable win IMO.

I'm looking forward to see how Cowboys come off a blowout win. Last season Dallas beat the hell out of Jacksonville then turned around and lost to the skins. I want this team to play with focus and purpose every time they hit the field. Not get caught up in the praise of the press after a very good win. Dallas does not need to put up the same kind of stats, but they need to come out fully prepared and focused on the job ahead of them.

Lol! For some, the first three and out Sunday will be grounds for Moore’s firing!

I like our chances this week. It will be interesting to see what Moore does to change up the attack. I think their LBers can be take advantage of, so i would expect Pollard to be used more as pass catcher this week a long with a good dose of Jarwin. I don't expect Zeke to go off, I think we are another week away from really getting in sync with the run game. But it should be good enough.

I think the D will hold them under 14 points so we should win this one by the 4th Q again.

I think they will challenge our DB's more than NY did. Jones should be back to starting for us though so maybe we'll be better prepared. Would also like to see Taco starting at RDE instead of Crawford like last year.

I think the Commanders below avg offense will force them to play conservative and try to keep the game low scoring.

"It’s on the road and in DC which is usually tougher for us than at home."

This is technically a "road game", and the team does have to travel, stay in a hotel, visitors locker room, etc., and those things will affect the team somewhat. However, there will be a home team feel, because it's gonna be 60% - 70% Cowboys fans.

Look at this tweet. Ain't no skins fans spending $400+ to go this game. These are Cowboys fans buying up all the tickets.

Nope. I've never been, and will never go to that dump of a stadium. It's a nightmare to get in and out of (so I've heard, lol). It's either a live game in Texas, or I'll watch on TV. I had a not great experience watching the Boys in Baltimore, so I'm done going to opposing team stadiums. I totally respect the fans that do, though.

i agree whole heartidly on this one, not as much as the Giants game because Dallas needed that one more.

Case Keenum is still Case Keenum, unless we make him super man. The D needs to get at it more and KM will have to drive in another gear witih different looks. his shifting will stay but he has plenty to mix up.

Good assessment on the week to week opponent. The defense has to do a better job of filling gaps, or AP will have a good day. I would like for once, that this team would put their foot on the opposing teams neck, and keep it there until there is no sign of life. The Cowboy's panic when they don't hear a heartbeat.

This may be a bigger Dallas crowd than Washington.

I was at Washington for the game in Daks first season. The stadium shows its age on the concourse but overall I enjoyed the vibe of the place. We were kinda quiet with our Cowboys cheering and the Skins fans were fine with us. We had no issues getting in and out but we traveled with a Skins season ticket holder so maybe he knew the secrets.

My guess...

Score will be lower but it will be because we run the ball more and don't hit as many big plays.

I just think this is how teams will have to defend Dallas. If you sell out on the run Dallas now they will just beat you deep.

Washington will let Zeke / Pollard eat and try not to give up the big play.

The line opened with Dallas -7 and the early big money moved it to -5 1/2.

I think this game will be much closer than some can imagine. I’d probably have taken the Skins and 7.

I think it’s going to be harder to run on these guys. Their DL is pretty good even without Allen. I think we win but it will be a battle in the trenches.
