They're just terms that are easier than writing "my favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys", and everyone knows they (or "we", as I'm one of those people use uses the same terminology when speaking to friends) don't actually think they/we are part of the team.
I buy autographed photographs. Anytime I buy paraphernalia I support that team so yes it's we my cowboy brother. Make no mistake about it LOL

Washington is not pathetic, but are they a playoff team? That would be no, so they are a pretender.

I base Dallas's season on how they perform against contenders. Going 10-0 against pretenders and 3-3 versus contenders is fools gold and will likely set yourself up for disappointment in the playoffs with an early exit and another lost season.
so what you're saying is that unless you go 16-0 you are fools gold?

#1.. I agree but there are times when playing a team at full strength is a good thing.

2014 Seattle, 2016 GB and Steelers, 2018 New Orleans... All of those games spring boarded the season and wouldn't have created the momentum without those teams being full strength.

Also, New Orleans game has became a must win game that we won't receive much credit for but will get hammered if we lose.

#2 I agree... Who cares if fans look ahead.
While I'm in agreement with you on both of the o.p's puzzled off the cuff queries, there C-17,,, I've never really fully accepted that N.O. Saints 'win' with the belief of solid conviction ,as to what is somewhat implied in this threads OP,,, as , well , ya know? The #54 easily would've drew a zebra ribbon award late in the game with that helmet2helmet hit he'd laid on the sideline running ball carrier ( if the opposition held the means to "challenge" an unflagged play then?, Upon review, I'm inclined to believe they'd have won 15 yards& an automatic 1st&10 ,,,er,,,then on that 4th down & ? pass to #11( pretty sure it was not less than 8 yards needed &,prolly closer to 11yards{,icr},,, the bease's knees were clearly gouging the turf / down a good yard short of that 1st down he was awarded with,,, it's not that big of deal now ,as it's long gone past history,,,but ,I'll reserve that particular "win" into that back section of needed defrosting frozen corner of my fandoms deep freezer, outta' sight& intentionally overlooked,,,We got an honest shot to prove that we were worthy of that' win' when we square off against em' again, coming up soon:starspin:

If we have two dozen pro bowlers and our own Brady and Belly, bring 'em on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To me, hoping for injuries so you can win is cheap and quite unsportsmanlike.
I don't think anybody actively hopes for injuries to other teams. But they happen every year and there is nothing we can do about it. You have to play against whoever the other team throws out there. If we beat a Brees-less saints team, it is a conference win that could have an impact on playoff seeding. I won't wake up the Monday after that game and say, "man, I really wish Brees would have played because this win doesn't mean much." You take every win you can. And you damn well better believe that not a single team out there felt bad beating the crap out of Dallas in 2015.

Please.. They got dominated. Jaylon hitting a guy too hard and not drawing a flag shouldn't change your mind.

That alone?,,, Naw, it wouldn't shiver me timber's of one's fandom such as I,,,it's more or less the cumulative effect of the total granted 'gimme's' in that game is the reason as to the "why" I've filed it away in the frozen "venture not" zone of my fandoms fond remembranceo_O

was wondering what your take on this was. I'd rather be the high school team taking on the college team. I knew you'd be right next to me LOL imagine a player of yours saying damn I hope there hurt this week. LOL
We'd take any advantage we could get. Injuries are part of the game, every team has them and coaches need to adjust and coach up the subs. We don't worry about things we can't control.

Oh there are plenty of people who wish for injuries to opposing teams. I was one of them, but only when Michael Vick was playing, and it had nothing to do with gaining an advantage in the game.

So, the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl and play the Pats.

You find out Tom Brady gets hit in the head by a flying squirrel the day before and won't play in the game.

Your reaction to that is what?

Actually, that's what this thread is about. Hoping for injuries so we have an easier time of it.

#2) Those enlightened posters understand that it is folly to upset the Football gods. They sit high atop Mt. Lombardi and can be a capricious and cruel lot, and the fortunes of NFL teams absolutely turn on the spirit of the fans and their attempts to appease them and earn their good fortune.

For example, every Sunday I have a butcher make sacrifices of Cattle and Poultry, and I consume their charred flesh in copious amounts while wearing the sacred number of the Football god Staubach. This earns the Cowboys just enough favor that they'll be closer to winning.

I know that if I look past and dismiss the Dolphins, then the terrible Shula might strike forth and grant their Quarterback the gifts of Marino. The great Landry may refuse the Cowboys a boon for my hubris, so it can be double bad.

So, in the words of the Great Oddball...."Positive waves Moriarty, POSITIVE WAVES!"

That could be the same said about the game the same week. It's all speculation. So look the way you want to look
it is, but the further you look the more speculation there is.
If you just look at say the miami game we have info that probably wont change by game time. So your speculation is more accurate.

Personally I don't look ahead there's no reason to. But that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it we're not the ones on the field

I hear a player of mine talk like that. I'll throw him off the team faster than he can say boo. Pull that on a Jimmy Johnson

Do you realize that you responded 3 times to the same post? We get it you're a real man, now finish posting.
