Setting a bar that teams can choose not to jump over. My issue is paying a QB........any QB.......what amounts to 20-25% of the salary cap. Nobody has shown that you win a title with the QB hogging up that much cap space. The formula is QB on a rookie deal or Tom Brady making half the salary he should be paid.

true, but if you dont have that qb you are not going to win a SB either.
Plus salary caps are going up, it wont be that much a few years from now.

Me personally, I think all players (starters) should get 1 mil a year, then at end of the year
the entire salary cap is given out as bonuses based on what each player did THAT year.
So if they produce big they get paid big, if they dont they get a lessor amount.
This way any player that produces big could get a big check at end of season.

I guess what I was saying would apply to only qb's with some substantial worth based on how they have played.

I agree with you... but Mahomes hasnt been signed yet, and you could say that Dak will be setting the bar for mahomes, who will obviously command a significant amount more than Dak..... although, I am not knocking Dak. You simply can not play any better than he has to start this season, and as you can see by my sig....... Im on the Dak train baby!

Seattle , Carolina, Philly, and LA have all recently won NFC title games with rookie QBs they didn't know were capable of the feat. In fact, Atlanta is the only exception in the last 7 years. You can trace the demise of Carolina and Seattle to paying there QBs. I'm sure LA and Philly aren't far behind.

Carolina, Philly and LA didnt win nfc title games with Rookie QBs. If im not mistaken Wentz was 7-9 his rookie year, Goff was pathetic his rookie year... and im not sure, But I dont think it was Cam's rookie year when he went to the SB. That does not make your point less valid, as seattle, without a DOUBT went south as soon as Wilson got paid.

this was his 2nd big payday.... he did exactly what Dak wants to do. Wilson just made it simple... he said if you dont pay me before the star of the season(last year) I will not resign and I will hit the market.

Presto, few weeks later new deal was done.
