Much has been made about so much running on 1st down.

But what happened when we passed?

I went through the game log. It's hilarious.

Until the final drive, every 1st don't pass play ended in a completion. Never for less than 5 yards to anyone not name Zeke, and for 3 if to Zeke. No sacks or incompletions until the final drive.

(One ended up being a PI on Cooper. Jazz hands.)

Think maybe we should have passed more on 1st down?

The 1st down runs by Zeke are included for comparison.

This play calling looked eerily similar to what we have seen in the past few years.
I doubt we ever passed 50% of the time on first down very often in the last few years

You’re so right. Passing on first down was successful 7 out of 10 plays. Running on first down was successful 1 of 12 plays. Dak was 6-7 passing in play action, including the only big play of the night, a 35 yard pass to Jarwin. Amazing that there were only 7 play action pass plays all game.

This isn’t rocket science.

I’m nervous that Gallup is the missing link. We got lucky that Miami is a bad team as it was ugly early on. That #2 is important.

I doubt it. Gallup is good; he shouldn't be the entire offense. Cobb, Smith, Jarwin, etc. should be able to handle much of his production. But who knows.....

yup...I'm wondering if Kellen had orders from the carrot to play it close to the vest....And it backfired.

Honestly...that didn't look like a Kellen game plan to me. Lack of play action...no long passes to stretch the defense. Something looks fishy to me.

I'd consider it good news if it's just that Gallup is a missing link. He comes back, and the link is no longer missing.

Looking at the data, the loss should go to the coaching. Plain as plain can be. We had plays that were working and plays that weren't. We chose to keep using the plays that weren't working.

How often have we said that in the Garrett era?

It's another reason to tilt toward concluding that it's on Garrett. Not only is it closer to our traditional play calling, but Garrett is known for pig headedly sticking to calling what isn't working, and going away from what is working.

That'll fool em! Genius, baby!

I suspect Garrett was breathing down Kellen's neck, "Don't you dare open up the game and loosen things up...."

This looked like the game plan of 2018 when we beat the saints with Defense and ground control. Garrett might have had a say in the play calling and this is the reason he needs to go. We will not win anything significant in the post season with Garret's ultra conservative game plan.

The million dollar question is will Kellen tell Jerry the truth about who made who go backwards in play calling?

One better; will any DFW área reporter have the guts to step up and ask the question?

But it almost doesn’t matter, because we all know the answer. And if we know, then Jerry knows.

If Garrett knows what’s best for him, he’ll step back and let K.M. build the game plan. Another loss like that against the Packers and he might not last the season.

Oh he was getting blasted on the fan today. 105.3 FM in Dallas...

And Jerry listens to the show, he comes on it...

Yep, definitely a Garrett game. Where was the RPO?
