Through the first 10 weeks (9 games - this past week isn't included), according to Footballoutsiders.com, Witten was in for 75.7% of the offensive snaps, Jarwin for 38.3% and Schultz for 8.8%.
Rather see more like 50/50

I agree he needs more play time. I didn’t know he is about to be a FA. Thought he had another year. If Witten is finally done after this year then maybe we sign him fairly cheap. Shultz has gotten less playing time then anyone.
Looks like he’s a RFA
I was thinking this was yr 4 but it’s actually yr 3

I like Jarwin and do not think he sucks. I don't expect him to develop into a Witten or Novacek type TE. But I can see him developing into a Doug Cosby/Dupree type TE. I'd be happy if he just got there.

It can't be that because at times they are on the field together, but what I've said before is I'm less concerned with snap count than with targets. In any given game the TEs will get a combined maximum of 5-8 targets, so most plays they will be blockers or safety valves or decoys, and on those plays it's arguable which TE benefits the team more (Witten the better blocker and Jarwin the better downfield decoy). But for the actual targets I would like to see something closer to an even split between Jarwin and Witten. Maybe that will require a little closer spread in snap counts, but ultimately if they can accomplish that with Jarwin getting around 40% of the snap counts, that's okay by me.

This is where the OC and the position coaches need to step up their personnel packages. When guys like Pollard and or Jarwin are having success they need more opportunity in those moments. They need to feed the hot hands. That may require going more 12 personnel and flexing Jarwin out or go 2 RB with Jarwin as the only TE etc.

Jarwin is better at periodically having a big play. Witten is a future Hall Of Famer, who's still better at moving the chains.

Take your pick.

Don't agree with this. In years past sure, but his lack of separation this year is more noticeable than ever before.

Witten is three TDs away from tying Dez for all time receiving TDs
I would at least like to see him get the opportunity to get them this season.

We're going to need to agree to disagree then. Witten still finds ways to get open and move the chains.

Because dak spreads it around and the WR’s make big plays so often the catches for a TE in most games are gonna be limited
Love Witten but jarwin has earned a bigger share of those catches I think

He may not be the blocker Witten is but he adds a receiving option Witten doesn’t
Witten is one of my all time favorites but they need to get jarwin more involved in passing game
Best passing offense in the league by most measures. Second-best scoring offense in the league behind Baltimore. I don't know that they "need" to do anything.

Witten is actually on pace to have a better year statistically than 2017 despite playing a lower % of snaps and despite sharing more targets with another TE than he did before. His catch % so far has been the best of his career.

Shhh. You're going to upset the Witten haters.

I'm sure the response will be that he didn't have a great 2017, so that's not such a big deal, but in more of a shared role and playing fewer snaps it isn't bad. As things are, we are on pace to get 971 yards and 8 TDs from our TE's, which will be the most we've had from the position since 2013. I'm hoping we will see more from Jarwin and the pace will increase after he's made some big plays the last couple of games.

Says every play-by-play guy who calls our game. Is he really just Witten's back-up, spelling the old man periodically during the game, or is there some situational strategy behind when and how he is being used?
He is a move TE only so he really isnt the same as Witten. You cant play Jarwin inline at all. He is a guy that will come in in subpackage in passing downs

It means his run blocking isn't up to snuff. That's why he not an "every down" tight end like old man Witten.

Remember how Rico would come in, and everyone knew it was a pass because he couldn't block? Definitely not to that level, but to the level where he still sits behind Witten. Jason still has the ability to get open, although his YAC isn't great.
Witt's blocking ain't top notch. I thought we are a passing team now, since Zeke can't do anything and is overpaid.

Witten is still a better blocker than Jarwin.

I would like to see Jarwin get more snaps but his blocking and Garrett's devotion to Witten will limit Jarwin's snaps.
