Could Matt Eberflus be the ideal hire the team needs?

Eberflus was brought in by Rob Ryan after he was hired as the team's new DC for the Cowboys several years ago. He served as the team's linebacker coach. Ryan's defensive scheme was more of a hybrid, two gap, 3-4 system. After Ryan was replaced by Monte Kiffin, Eberflus was retained on the defensive staff. Working under Kiffin/Marinelli, he was exposed to playing their 4-3 alignment. Eberflus rose up the ranks within the Cowboy Organization, eventually becoming the passing coordinator for the defense before he became the Colts new DC last year. With great success in turning around Indy's Defense, Eberflus is a hot Head Coaching Candidate. You would think he is a person of interest within the Cowboy Organization if they decided to not retain Jason Garrett.

I think he is a really good coach and should not have been let move on. He should be the Cowboys DC. Not sure about him as a HC just yet.

I can certainly see why he would be in the conversation but just not feeling him. If they go with a defensive guy, keep an eye also on Jack Del Rio or John Fox. Wouldn't be my choices but both are good friends with Jerry and Stephen.

I wouldn't mind a Defensive minded HC. There's only one Bellichick but to use him as an example in this pass happy offensive type of league he held the Rams (ranked #2 in total offense) to 3 points in the SB...Mike Zimmer another Defensive Minded coach had his team in the NFC Championship game 2 or 3 seasons ago. But whoever the next HC is, Offensive or Defensive background I just want to win. Win convincingly, and Win Often. Deep Runs in the Playoffs, and become a real contender from the Coaching to Players stand point.

Tell me what the big deciding difference between Kris Richard vs Matt Eberflus

Eberflus exposed to their 4-3 alignment “ ? Didn’t Eberflus take the 4-3 scheme to the Colts ?

I never was impressed with Eberflus. When many wanted him promoted too DC, I was not on board.
Why? Because he never developed any LB's to be better. We were actually pretty bad at LB other that an oft injured Lee. McClain had his good games when he wasn't on the purple drank, but those players are good without being coached up.

He would not be a good fit, though he is doing well in Indy, but I see him being another Campo or Wanstadt type coach, good or DC, but not a HC.
And I do not put him in the same category as a DC as I do with Campo or Wanstadt.

I want a defensive HC and let Moore run the offense if the new head coach desires. Defense still wins championships

He would be intriguing to interview. We could probably keep our offensive staff.

No, the offensive staff needs to go for the most part.

Keep Kitna, and maybe Moore, though I am not sold on him yet. Depends if he is really handcuffed or not in play calling or game planning.
Nussmeir, not sure about, the TE's don't seem to be developing, though Jarwin looks very good, but I keep reading about his lack of blocking.

Ray Brown as RB's coach must go, I been saying that for years.

Colombo, OL, I would be ok with keeping also.
Lal with he WR's, maybe, but has he really helped, as the players have talent, none developed.

So maybe keep them, that would be ok I guess, except dump Brown.

Not a fan of either. We need a young, innovative Defensive Coach. No matter if he's the new Head Coach of DC. We said the same thing about the offense last year and now they are among one of the best units. Tell you the truth, I would be fine with Richard if he brought in Quinn as his DC and let Marinelli go.

Marinelli is in the last year of his contract. Pretty sure he won't be extended.
I think he retires.

Callahan was a great OL Coach, but I'm not sure if he burned all his bridges with the organization. Would be a great coach to fix our running game.
