Andy Reid was let go from Philly due to him not being able to win a Superbowl, despite the fact that Andy Reid has actually been to the Superbowl and NFC Championship game unlike Garrett. So, nice try it trying to compare Garrett being a coach for a long time to Andy Reid. Andy Reid is not on the same Philly team that he failed to win a Superbowl with. And also the Eagles also fired Chip Kelly because he wasn't getting it done and made the Eagles worse.

Philly fired 2 coaches who couldn't win them the Superbowl, while the Cowboys stuck with Garrett. Which is why you can't compare Andy Reid being the coach of a different team to Garrett still being the coach of the Cowboys after 10 years of failing to even get to the NFC Championship game.

What if keeping Jason Garrett is a better idea?

Truth is.. life with Garrett hasnt been too bad. We have had many 8-8+ seasons, have won division numerous times and Garrett is the mastermind behind our current playoff push. A new coach brings so many unknowns.

My opinion is, resign Garrett for 2020 and give Garrett an ultimatum: Win SB or go home..

My position has always been that Jason needs to get it done this year to justify an extension.

It’s just also the case that I expect we’ll end up worse off if he doesn’t pull it off. You guys won’t care because you’ll just flip on the new guy instantly and want another new coach anyway. But I’ve always wanted the highest likelihood of fixing the things that are dysfunctional in the organization. And Garrett gave us a pretty good chance of that.

Yes. I actually agree with this. Everyone WILL flip on the new guy instantly and want another new coach anyway.

That's how this works. The people that have two brain cells to rub together know where the problem is. But those people also know Jerry and his family are untouchable because Jerry is the owner. But the people that work for him are not untouchable.

So that is the focus of the assault. The HC and the coaching staff. It works because most peeps believe if wins are elusive the problem must be with the players first and, if that's proven wrong, then with the coaches. So you do have an opportunity to take them down and out.

Problem is Jerry knows this too. And he's stubborn. As well as being elitist and narcissistic. So your prediction that we'll probably end up worse off is probably spot on as well.

Good post.

Technically, there have been 19 head coaches in Eagles history that couldn't/didn't win a championship/Superbowl for them.

There have been 22 head coaches of the Eagles in the NFL. Two coaches have won NFL championships with the team, Earl "Greasy" Neale in 1948 and 1949, Buck Shaw in 1960.

Doug Pederson is the only HC in the Superbowl era that won it for them.

The only reason I'd give him another season is if our goal was the 1st pick of the 2021 draft.

Yeah, it was a very weak justification attempt.

Yeah, so we might as well just lose forever instead of attempting to get better. Gawd forbid we'd try that!!!
