The argument to keep Jason Garrett for 2020

I'll be in the huge minority here, but I do believe Garrett will leave a special legacy behind after he's gone; a very positive one at that. He built 2 of the 5 greatest QBs in Cowboys history with his bare hands. I have a feeling Dak won't quite be what you have come to expect once Garrett leaves. He doesn't know winning playoff games, he doesn't seem to have that Parcells/Belichick nasty side where players become too afraid to lose. But what he does have is a special connection to the quarterback position. Andy Reid has it, Frank Reich has it, Doug has it when his confidence is up, Walsh had it.

Not saying Garrett is anywhere as good as those coaches. But he didn't 'accidentally' fall into 2 of the biggest QB steals of the last 20 years. Romo was already good when Garret came in. He was great when he left. Dak has been better than any 4th round pick I can remember since Jared Allen. That doesn't happen in New York, in Arizona, in Denver, in Jacksonville. It happens with Jason Garrett.

Not saying don't fire him. He's earned whatever's coming. But it may irrevocably affect Dak, especially if the next guy is not QB-centric.

What is this crap? Garrett is some "QB whisper":lmao2:

I didnt even read the rest of your dribble, whatever it was about. So are your Eagles going to nut up and win a game or lose to Elie:laugh:

What if keeping Jason Garrett is a better idea?

Truth is.. life with Garrett hasnt been too bad. We have had many 8-8+ seasons, have won division numerous times and Garrett is the mastermind behind our current playoff push. A new coach brings so many unknowns.

My opinion is, resign Garrett for 2020 and give Garrett an ultimatum: Win SB or go home..

Has not come close to winning NFC championship, during his tenure. What makes anyone around the world believe, that this team with Garrett at the helm, would make it past the second round of playoffs?

I'm sure behind the scenes, or it's just assumed

anyone you have to scare into doing their job is worthless to begin with - coach or player or grounds keeper

if the pursuit of excellence isn't what motivates them - don't hire them

A lot of people were involved in that failure. But maybe it was just the one coach.

Garrett may not be the sole problem, in fact, I am sure he is not the sole problem..........but he was a problem none the less, especially game day.

His team's never made adjustments and as a result could not play from behind, Dallas was 30th in the league in overcoming halftime deficits under Garrett. He believes in very basic plays that virtually every team runs and stresses "execution" above all else. This is fine if you have overwhelming talent like the Cowboys of the 90s, but in todays parity league that doesn't work. Why do you think every opponent we play says after the game that "Dallas does what they do on tape" so no surprises. The defensive players for the Vikes says they recognized the formations we were in at the end of the game and knew they were run plays from tape study so they just rushed directly to Zeke and stuffed both runs. Garrett says we "should have executed better", but that is where he has failed as a coach, you cant blame execution when your opponent knows what plays you are running. Why do you think coaches cover up their face when they talk, so the opposition cant see what plays they call.

There are many other examples, from nobody telling the punt returns in New England to move up because the ball will not reach the end zone in a 30 mph wind. Like Troy Aikman said on the broadcast, "that's just bad coaching". I could list other examples but I think I will just close with a saying from Bill Parcells, "the NFL is a results oriented business".............in other words Idgit, results matter and Garrett could not deliver results even though he was given 10 years to do it, which is a lifetime in the NFL. That is ultimately why he will not be the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

This game is built on intimidation. When was the last time this franchise had a coach that scared the shard out of the players on a daily basis?

Hint::

"The asthma field is over there."

Now, what was the results of that head coach?

Except that's exactly how to handle a large percentage of players...because that's how they've always been treated and don't know any other way. Once they're in a self-motivate environment, they do what we've seen here time and again.. Party time and slack off

im just thinking of my kid

he likes garrett and he is his hero. my kid thinks we can make playoffs at 8-8.

personally i think garret can coach
Maybe you need to sit down with your kid and explain to him that real heroes are people that sacrifice and serve others.

They are people in the military, wounded warriors that have lost limbs in Iraq and Afghanistan, first responders like police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, they can be a teacher that stays after school to help a child with reading problems or a foster parent that opens his or her home to a neglected or abused child.

Jason Garrett is not a hero..........maybe you should explain that to your kid.

Didnt realize there was an argument.....except from a few on this board..

There is no argument, just a very, very, very small group that ignores all the stats and science and think Garrett is good, they remind me of the "Flat Earthers".
Nobody takes them seriously and everybody is more amused by them than anything else.

the way you guys are crashing, we may not have to

Nobody here wants to win another game, I would say 90% + would love nothing more than a new head coach and a top 10 pick but that is not possible if your stupid arse Eagles cant even beat the Dolphins or the Giants.

Nut up, you got the easiest closing schedule in the entire NFL and you are choking like a dog......WIN SOME DAM GAMES:angry:

He’s been here for a decade, the time for ultimatums is over. He’s had 10 years to win it. CUT BAIT

Cheers. Btw, if you listen to the Cowboys Bears game, you might hear a few howls. Those were from me lol. One of which indirectly led to the INT.

Oh, and in almost the entirety of the second half, I was chanting Fire Garrett and had a lot of people, including Bears fans, joining in with it. So that was fun lol. Actually, we started playing a bit better when i was chanting that lol.

It is still very possible even if Eli punks us. We’re 1 game behind you if we lose today. So if you lose out, then we get the division, regardless of what we do
