Stephen doesn't control Jerry, and this is not the first time the team has shown restraint in a contract situation.

Ok then.....

That's a lot of years but in 2 years or less, 40 million per year most likely won't be top 10 salary.

If you are correct, then at this point, his contract will be more in line with his performance.

In the meantime, he'll be grotesquely overpaid.

Lets hope not. We over pay everyone. Lawrence got 120 mil plus and i dont think he has 2 sacks. We still need to sign Cooper. We got problems......
Lawrence doesn't have 2 sacks - he has 5. Still not what we would hope, but lets not exaggerate to make a point.

There is a reason Mike Taunnenbam is a former GM. Horrible judgment...when it comes to handing out money. Probably his idea Dak is worth that much. And look how bad that looks on paper...

The amount per season and length are really irrelevent, the only thing that matters is the garanteed money, i would not like to guess at what it would be on a contract that big or long but you would have to think at least 200M, which is ridiculous and if your Dak why sign for that long without that kind of guarantee? So it will never happen

Not true. The amount per season absolutely matters as it directly influences the amount that can be spent on other areas of the team. Lower amounts of guaranteed money just reduces risk if things go seriously wrong.

Well, if this is the truth (and I don't believe it is), I think I'd just go a head and tag him this year. I'd go draft a QB high, like maybe even in the first round and I'd lay it out there for Dak and his agent. Here is what we will offer for these many years, if that's not something you want to do, then we will trade you and move on with another guy. I'd get Cooper done ASAP.

Seeing how foolishly Mike TBum threw money around in Miami, he probably truly believes that crazy figure.

You want a long contract then you are goign to have pay more than what QBs get now because in a few years they will be making less.

I have no issues with signing Dak to a Franchise QB contract IF the new HC wants Dak as his Franchise QB.

Having said that, a 10 year contract in the NFL is just plain stupid. Let alone setting the QB market by such a large margin in the process.

No wonder he is a FORMER GM.

I think Tyron Smith deal was a 10 year deal or something like that. So, there's a history but unlikely in this situation.

And Dak likely would want to renegotiate if that was the case. I get the inflated salaries for QBs but overpaying now won't make him keep quiet when other QBs begin to surpass that avg. etc
Jerry and company like to sign guys where they can restructure if need be, so I'm sure that should be in the contract.
