the media follows him around like lost puppies and hang on his every word. That’s the problem. Doesn’t really matter who is listening at that point as long as there’s a dozen microphones in his face.

With all due respect fellow Cowboy brethren, I believe it does matter because if the eyes and ears quit reading/watching/listening, the media would eventually be forced to stop as well because they're merely pandering to whatever gets the most attention.

Sadly Cowboy fans appear incapable of showing this much solidarity to cause this to happen but if it ever miraculously happened, all platforms would eventually dry up for jones & spawn and make him miserable in the process & it would be as joyous of an occasion as winning another Super Bowl for this fan

And for anyone reading, dont confusion my suggestion to mean I am advocating for fans to quit watching and going to the games and supporting whichever players they love, keep on keeping on (just stop listening/reading/watching jeri & spawn en masse! You can do it!).

Part of me wonders if 77 year-old Jerry might just be willing to hedge a bit more on control knowing this could be the last HC hiring he might ever make before heading to parts unknown.
I'm pretty sure he knows he's going to be needing only the highest spf sunscreen where he's going.
But then again, who am I to judge? Just an informed guess on my part.

Urban Meyer is the ultimate group think. He said he would coach here on tv and now it has just been taken as he is the next head coach. All because he said it on tv.
I don't think everyone jumps on Meyer because he said he would coach here. many people would coach here.
But find another guy with a win loss record like Meyer. Look at what he did at Utah, Florida and Ohio State.

His success is undeniable. This is a bigger factor than him on a radio show.

I’m a Cowboys fan living in the suburbs of Philly. Matt Rhule turned Temple around. Temple was the doormats of college football for the longest time and some were even saying from them to drop down a div. They drew like 5 fans. He came in and turned them into a top 20 team and at one point they sold out the linc to play either Notre Dame or Penn St. I forget, with major implications on the line. They lost a close game.

These are the guys who can coach. Put coach K at Fordam and see what he does for example. All these guys who get the best players you really don’t know if they can coach.

Total side note, but I absolutely see a world where Lee/Witten are positional coaches here next year for whomever takes over as part of the dealio.

I believe Sean Lee will coach, but I think it will be with Sean McVay if he has an opening. Lee has a house in Malibu and has developed a great relationship with McVay

This is old but I missed it the first time... but that gives me hope that he spoke so highly of Rhule.

Like Zordon said, though, Joel Klatt was talking about Rhule on the Ticket this week and pointed out that Rhule has a massive buyout, and he claimed Rhule most likely had a top-6 college salary, which is way up there. As Klatt said, private schools don't have to disclose everything about salaries and contracts like public schools do, so Rhule is making a lot more than the numbers you might be published.

That definitely would give Jerry pause, as much as he hates paying coaches.
He doesnt hate it too much. Paying garrett top 10 money smh

Yeah I don't think any NFL team, especially the Cowboys, are worried about any buyout. It might scare off some colleges (except from the blue blood schools that have the money) but if an NFL team wants someone, they will get him.

Jerry is notoriously cheap with coaches and assistants. It's not that he wouldn't pay rhule market value but him paying Baylor the money in a buyout does nothing for him. I think they would have to put Jerry's name on the stadium for him to agree to a deal like that.

This isn’t just about Cowboy fans. These are media outlets on a national stage. Following the richest owner of the most popular team in sports. Quit watching, quit listening.. but it simply doesn’t matter at this point. ‘Someone’ will still be listening, he’ll still be interviewed and he’ll still make that Forbes list every year. That is the sad reality of the situation.

I dont believe that would apply to the local stations. 105.3 would drop him and perhaps go off the air entirely if people quit listening, no way 105.3 is kept afloat by a national audience

The success rate for a college coach going pro is even lower when Jones is the owner.

well...Meyer isn't coming directly from college since he's been retired...so there's still a chance he's the guy.
