This is a new one. He has a winning record and a Coach of the Year award but that doesn't count because..... (checks notes).... something something favoritism something.

If it's new to you, I'm sorry. It's not new to this board. It's been discussed many, many times.

Yeah, it does. He can't possibly know this.

Garrett cut him. He's bitter.

If he can blindly assassinate Garrett's character, then I can easily do the same to him.

Carrot assassinated his own character. Imagine if there was an owner of a hospital dumb enough to let some random janitor come in and claim to be a brain surgeon who’s learning on the job. People should have some common decency and not take a job they are completely unqualified for.

Its literally on this page.

And hire a bright backup QB who because a QB coach when everyone in the NFL said for ten years that he would likely be a successful OC one day?

Yes.

OK. I would not, not ever, when I have a team that is talented enough to compete for a Championship. To me, that's selling out the team because you owe them the very best chance to win and bringing in an unproven commodity at OC is not providing the team with the very best. That is my opinion on it.

You believe Garrett was qualified and I do not.

Wade Phillips paid his dues. He was a Graduate Assistant at Houston, he was a HS coach, he was a LB Coach at OkieSt., DL Coach at Kansas before he ever got a shot in the NFL to coach anything.

In other words, Wade was less qualified for his first NFL position than Garrett was for his.

No, just the opposite, in fact. Wade had coached for years, going back to his College Days, first in HS, then in the NCAA before he ever got a shot in the NFL. His father was a HC in the NFL, Wade Phillips had experience and knowledge passed on to him from the time he was a boy. He was infinitely more qualified, then was Garrett. I guess I don't understand what you are asking because surely you see that Phillips was much more qualified then was Garrett right?

I believe the fact Garrett succeeded in that OC position is proof he had whatever qualifications were needed.

What is your definition of success? He took a top 5 Offense and reduced it to a middle of the road Offense in the space of three seasons. How can you say that this translates into success as an OC?

Why do Cowboy fans take what this guy says so seriously? He’s doing his best to keep his career alive ever since he got fired from The Fan. He’s a loudmouth who will do and say anything for attention.

Wade had three years as a college position coach at C list schools, Garrett was actually in the NFL and part of NFL schemes for 13 years. High School is completely meaningless to NFL coaching.

And in terms of "Learnin' at Daddy's knee", I know everything on this site goes back to Carrott Man Bad but you might want to google Garrett's family.

No. I mean, really, you want to argue over this?

1969 Graduate Assistant Coach at UH
1970-72 DC Lutcher Stark HS
1973-74 DC Oklahoma St. Universtiy
1975 DC University of Kansas

I mean, that's 7 years of coaching experience, three of which were for D1 College Programs as Defensive Coordinator before ever getting his first job in the NFL.

Jason Garrett never coached anything prior to getting a shot in the NFL. I mean, believe what you want but no, Garrett was not more qualified. Being a backup in the NFL is not the same as Coaching.

For the record, everybody knows the history of Garrett and his family. Nobody in his family was a HC in the NFL, prior to himself, so what? What's your point? I mean, you seem to think that being a backup QB in the NFL is qualification for getting a job over a person who has actually coached at all levels and had success. If that's your opinion, that's fine but it is not mine. That's just ridiculous to me.

Believe what you will but no, he was not more qualified. However, who cares? The discussion isn't about Phillips and his qualifications. The discussion is about how Phillips lost his job in Dallas and the role Garrett played in that.

I have no idea what you are referring to about the "3 or 4 pages" but whatever. Yes, the Cowboys are beating the Rams but again, this has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.
