I really don't get worked up about things like this until they happen. The fans and media (for different reasons of course) are the only ones who are mad because Jerry is not following a firing/hiring script.

Personally, I'm more concerned about who the hire next than I am when the fire Garrett.

I got duped by Ed Werder and ESPN. How could they blast that news all night the way they did (saying "it's official, the Cowboys are moving on from Garrett")?

To me (until now) I took ESPN to be as close as "official" as it gets (sans the Dallas Cowboys website).. I never took SAS and ESPN shows as serious news. Only the ESPN news did I take serious.

But back to the point of my reply.

(in regards to the bolded in your reply) the crap that ESPN just threw out last night now has me wondering...Is Jerry going to renew Jason's contract and wait til the 14th to make it official? I just have this strange feeling that Jason is going to be HC again (even though you, me, and 99% of this board think Jerry would be totally out of his mind of he did that)...

Reality---but with this slow walk it invited possiblity that Garrett is retained...is this not true?

After all the news about Garrett being out, if Jerry pulled a reversal now, I can't imagine the absolute blowout /blowback by the fans!
It'd be like the atom bomb of sports! :omg::omg:

No kidding, we know Garrett is gone. We want to know who the next coach is.

I don't understand this line of reasoning. He's making a big move in getting rid of Garrett which in turn is going to change the entire coaching staff. And if we're lucky, he'll relinquish even more control than he has in recent years. I mean what do you expect him to do? Hire the first yahoo off the streets? Did you ever think that maybe he already has someone lined up who is currently coaching in the playoffs? Talk about entitlement. You guys want it all now, now, now. Give me, give me, give me.

but Rock baby---at this point it is still speculation..albeit higher percentage maybe...i guess i am preparing my psyche for the worst?....its been a down year

It's been a horrible year but that's no reason to think the worse about the coaching issue. I've actually got a lot of hope over the upcoming changes.

Meeting #1 -
JJ: Jason, we will not renew your contract.
JG: Thank you Mr. Jones. It's been the opportunity of a life time. If it's ok with you, I'd like to finish out my time with the organization by finishing off the end of season work including player evaluations.
JJ: No problem.

Why is this so hard to understand and appreciate? Garret is a class act. He's leaving the organization in the same way he has always operated. Total focus and commitment.
Could very well have gone like this, but I wonder if JG would really want to put himself behind others already interviewing for HC jobs that he'd like.

Then why not be truthful about it? Why not just announce it to the media that he's still on until the 14th? The Cowboys are a weird organization. They think they are smart but their not.

if JJ has his way, than yes, a lot of fans of mediocrity will be thrilled, the taint will still be there as will the standards of failure.

everything has got to go. any 1 coach left over will have enough to taint the next season.

Are we even sure that Jerry Jones is alive at this point? Has anyone physically seen him? No source has even directly spoken with him. For a guy that loves the spotlight he sure has been silent lately....

It may be possible that Jason Garrett assassinated him after being told he would be let go, and is trying to hide the fact as long as possible. The jig will be up on the 14th...

What official source do you have saying they're getting rid of Garrett?

After watching ESPN last night and the news that was blasted all night saying the Cowboys have distanced themselves from Garrett, I did notice there is no mention on an "official" site (the Dallas Cowboys website which is run by Dallas Cowboys staff) of anything saying Jason (either) has been let go or that on the 14th they're going to renew his contract.

I want Garrett gone as much as the next guy and watching ESPN news last night, I thought I got my wish only to be duped... LOL

Could be, but in hind sight, *** good was this dude at evaluating squat in regards to this team? I'll lay bets it's always been clapper putting players in weak, bad positions they were not designed or built to play at...besides, the new HC will be doing his own evaluating of the bums we have on this roster...not all mind you, but quiet a few.
