He should have been a little more patient then we could have gotten him now for free.

He just signed a new 5 year deal. I don’t think he can call him. He’d have to call the Saints and ask about a trade. It’s not happening, nor should it. There are twice as many strong coaching candidates available this year than there are openings. They will have several fine options to chose from.

There may very well be some buyout option.

I wouldn't assume the worst, anyhow. I could be wrong, but I think Jerry would not be breaking any rules to ask that question of his Payton's agent.

Why would he leave the Saints if he could. Have you seen what he has to work with in the future? Hill, Thomas, Kamara, Cook, control of his team, and a City that treats him like a God. Payton isn't going anywhere

I'd rather have Dan Campbell than Payton to tell you the truth.

Any coach you get who doesn't walk in the door with the clout to insist that Jerry not meddle in the coaching component is not a good candidate... more than anything else, we need staff and player accountability to our head coach, as opposed to the owner.

Except Dallas isn't chopped liver.

I'm absolutely not saying it would happen, but I am saying it's absurd to get to this point and say, "Oh well, not even going to pursue that."

What's it going to be then, eh?

I don't see why unless the Saints will take straight cash for him.

Parcells never had a problem working with Jerry. This meddling by Jerry is a myth.

Missing something in that response. Sounds like you think I disagree, but I don't.

Parcells rarely if ever had a problem working with Jerry... because... Parcells brought with him the resume' and clout and balls to the job that kept Jerry from imposing himself.

With the exception of Jimmy Johnson, that's never ever been the case with any other head coach Jerry hired.

And that's the point here.

We need a coach who walks in the door with that kind of gravitas, and keeps Jerry out of any coaching-related role of any kind so that all of the accountability among the staff and players is to the head coach.

That is Qualification #1.
