Yes, I know....
  • It would be great if the weather was cool in July in Dallas.
  • It would be great if chocolate cake was the most nutritious thing on the planet.
  • It would be wonderful if all vacations to Hawaii were free.
  • And I would sure like to get that pickup I like for free while we’re at it.
But then I woke up....

Well speaking of far fetched- check out these fun fan fantasies that are less likely than a July 4th snow storm in Dallas:
  • Bill Belechick- the HC with THE MOST CONTROL of any HC in the NFL is somehow going to agree to come to Dallas with THE MOST INTRUSIVE AND CONTROLLING owner and GM in sports. Crazy.
  • Sean Payton- a guy who has FOURS YEARS LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT in New Orleans is going to agree to a buyout, leave his top 3 all time QB to come here. And we are willing to give up multiple draft choices to get him. Crazy.
  • Mike Zimmer- the very independent Vikes HC who still has ONE YEAR LEFT ON HIS CONTRACT is somehow going to agree to come to Dallas where Jerry loves him some WRs and big time offense. Well maybe less crazy than the previous two, but still very unlikely.
I don’t know who the Cowboys are going to hire as the next head coach. But I think it’s an absolute pipe dream to think it’s going to be one of the guys above. Especially “Coach Hoodie”.

the only one on that list I want is Belichick.
in the end...the owner aint goin any where.
so all i want is a competant game day coach who will make solid in game decisions.
☆Urban Meyer
☆Lincoln Riley
☆Mike McCarthy

The only hope we have for a brighter future is for this owner to realize he must change some of his ways. Doesn’t have to change everything. Just hire a HC, give him the goal of winning a championship, and let that guy lead the team. JJ can still play football big shot in other ways if he must.

He can still hold press conferences for all the boxing matches, concerts and tractor pulls he signs up for his “stayjum”. Just stay out off the radio shows and post game locker room pressers.

Yes, I realize that may be a fantasy too, lol.

Jerry relinquishing the needed control to a HC is a fan fantasy that just won't happen either. He has his stadium. He doesn't feel the need to do it again.

Why would Big Hoodie agree to give up the way he does things? Why would he leave NE for the circus? Serious answers please. And “because it’s the Cowboys” isn’t a very realistic answer for anyone who isn’t a Cowboys fan.

Coaching jobs in the NFL are few and far between...

Belichick's dad was given a break by Landry, his favorite player is Staubach...

I'm not saying it happens... just saying you never know...

If we got a pairing of Riley as HC and Marvin Lewis as DC we wouldn’t have much to complain about.

That’s a good answer....I just think Belechick and Jerry would be about as compatible as a snowman in a heatwave. I guess we can all dream.

I wouldn’t be too thrilled. Riley is clearly a talented guy but his teams almost never have to play against equally talented opponents. I’m not at all sure he has what it takes at the next level. Few college coaches have succeeded in the NFL.

The NFL never gives any team the kind of talent advantage guys like Saban, Meyer and Riley have enjoyed. OU hasn’t looked as great against teams like LSU and Alabama who have as much talent as they do.

Marvin Lewis? Yeah...he’s a decent defensive coach. But is he that great? Meh.

If Brady retires its possible we could make a run at BB, if not I would not be surprised of Jerry makes a run at Peyton, its going to cost a couple of 1sts though.

I don't think a 40 year old Brees who may decide to retire is going to keep Sean in New Orleans IF he wants to leave. But I do think he's got more pieces in New Orleans than he would in Dallas and far less owner interference.

hate to burst your bubble brother, but this is the most far-fetched of all the fantasies you’ve stated in this thread LOL

I don’t know if anyone has ever seen that show on TLC network called “my 600 pound life” but this fantasy here you are describing reminds me of that. You got these people that have basically eaten themselves into a full-blown com coma. They weigh 600, 700, 800 pounds. They are bedridden, they have zero quality of life, many of them haven’t even left the house in years. The doctor comes in, literally looks them in the face, and tells them they are going to die if something doesn’t change soon.

and yet, they can’t find the willpower to stay away from the pizza, chips, candy, and pop, and instead they keep looking for the next magic pill or solution that will make their life better overnight with little or no change on their part

That’s Jerry folks. That’s our owner. He knows deep down inside his decisions are the problem, he knows if he continues on the path he’s on the results will be the same or worse, and yet in spite of himself he either cannot or will not change.

The scenario you are describing would be great Bob, but sadly it’s never going to happen. And in another way, this draws another interesting parallel to the show I mentioned. As fans, to some extent, we are the well intentioned family member who continues to feed the monster and make it worse

At what point do some of the fans start to walk away and say I can’t be a part of this anymore?

kinda my thought.

jones back off parcells, so he can back off on a proven guy. rumors are bill wants to prove it was him, not just brady. at least a brady in his prime. :) payton is under contract so that's an easy call.

zimmer - let's hope this is correct and he's not coming here.
