Why don’t we try and find ourselves a Taysom Hill while we’re at it...

Cowboys demoted their ST coach Keith O'Quinn back to his old job in the scouting department. He won't be in McCarthy's way.

Anyone hear anything on potential Special Teams coaches? Anyone that McCarthy might bring along?

IMO it was the worst ST unit that I've seen in many years for the Cowboys. Obviously need a new Punter. Forbath deserves to be brought back to camp but they better bring in 2 or 3 other kickers as well.
I am assuming that will be sorted out in short order. Get a new ST coach and let him go to work. He has a lot to do..

Wonder if in all that analytics mumbo jumbo ol' Mac studied up on in his Wisconsin barn included Special Teams and whether Mac has finally learned that STs are part of a head coaches responsibility?

Because Mac sure put a couple of buffoons in charge of STs in GB, first RC Slocum's kid Shawn (whose STs cost the Packers the 2014 NFC Championship game in Seattle by giving up both a fake field goal TD and then failing to follow directions and blowing an onside kick) and then all-around has been Ron Zook.

Hard to find consistently worse STs units than the Packers under Mac (ranking from Rick Gosselin):

2009 = 31st
2010 = 29th
2011 = Tied 13th
2012 = 12th
2013 = 20th
2014 = 32nd
2015 = 17th
2016 = 29th
2017 = 16th
2018 = 32nd

You're point isn't lost on me. If he brings in a STRONG special teams coach, then that will say a lot about Mac IMO. If he is studying all these analytics then he has to know what you just presented. No??

Mac literally lost a chance to go to the Super Bowl in 2014 because he refused to take Special Teams seriously and hired the unqualified son of one of the coaches he used to work for - R.C. Slocum.

When he could no longer ignore Shawn Slocum's pathetic work as STs Coordinator and fired him after the debacle in Seattle what did Mac do?

Scour the NFL for a qualified, up and comer?

Nope, Mac hired another old buddy Ron Zook -- the guy who had just been fired for failing miserably as the head coach at Illinois (after failing at Florida).

Zook's background in STs was limited and it led to more pathetic STs play.

Culminating in another 32nd place ranking for Mac's STs in 2018.

Maybe Mac is the rare leopard who can change his spots.

Then again, maybe he is who he has always been.

Good info. Guess we will find out. Proof is in the pudding as always. At least Jerry isn't telling him who he HAS to hire. I'll take that....

McCarthy had Taysom Hill in training camp in Green Bay.

Meat and potatoes Mike McCarthy didn't want Hill and would not know what to do with him if he was on his team.

apparently Peyton forgot because late in the game with the knowledge TH was nearly unstoppable he stopped using him while brees was struggling.. it happens.

SP was heavily criticized and some eve accused him of being afraid to hurt brees' feelings and not getting Hill more touches in crunch time at QB..

Tried this link and it is dead... 6th ranked special teams with the raggedy Skins. That's like taking our Special Teamers to the Olympics and winning 100 gold medals. Dark horse!
