Brees lead the NFL in passer rating. 115.7. Dak was 14th with a 96.9. Brees is better than Dak. Probably by a good bit.

Brady might be washed. His line and receivers aren't anywhere as good as Dak's so it might be the people around Brady making him look bad.

NOPE. Are you ready to say that Tannehill was better than Brees? B/c he led the entire league in passer rating. Passer rating is pretty meaningless.

Dak can make a play when things don't work. Brees can't. Brees is barely even a top-10 QB right now.

It would be downright stupid to sign a 40+ year old QB regardless if they’re first ballot Hall of Famer’s and move on from a good, young QB. QB isn’t the issue on this team! The defense and coaching have been the biggest issues. If Brady and Bees couldn’t advance in the playoffs with the teams they have they aren’t getting anywhere with this overrated, underachieving team.

Brees is not done but he's definitely on the downward arc now.
You don't give up on a young franchise QB for an old franchise QB.

Part of the reason is financial.
Dak will cost a fortune but those hits can be kicked down the road yearly for a long while as he is locked in place.
Brady or Brees will cost you a fortune and you will pay it now as they aren't gonna be here 5 years.

You’re point is correct, but the reason they got a 1st was timing. The Vikings were desperate when their QB went down late in training camp and they were a perceived SB contender. I venture to guess Dak would fetch a 1st round plus in the same scenario.
