Yup, I’m saying that. Bill got paid.

Yep and BP comments where a couple of years after he left Dallas and was no longer drawing a paycheck from Jerry. Clearly you can claim anything you like but I will go by people who were there not someone who does not know and was not there.

McCarthy hire not "sexy", but Jerry is clearly distancing himself from the locker room as much as we could hope for.

The staff- in totality- is proven and professional. An excellent indicator of potential success is they CHOSE to join McCarthy in Dallas. These guys had jobs.

Whatever happens-Jerry handed the keys over to football guys. Finally.
Garrett had highly regarded men all over his staff for years. Rod and Scott for instance may not have worked out but they were (and are) highly regarded men of the NFL.

It doesn't mean much if the team doesn't perform.

Jimmy has said nice things about Jerry posthumously, do you see the parallels?

after this many years, I bet Jerry is more of a “football guy” than 98% of the world. You guys are kidding yourself to not believe so.

Jimmy has said a lot of harsh things as well. Fact is now you are changing it, before it was because he was getting paid now this? lol BP never was afraid to give his views on anything or anyone.

There are things I agree with him on and things I disagree with him on. What you want to do is take your own feelings and put it on others and when they do not jive then they just as not telling the truth. Fact is BP knows Jerry and worked for Jerry and you? Have you?

I truly hope this the direction this team is going and allowing MM to have final say on his staff and players for his game plan to work because without this there is no accountability for anyone . Otherwise it will just be a rinse and repeat era of JG.

Could it be Jerry has now stepped back enough to allow the football guys to take charge?

I'll keep pinching myself just to make sure I'm not dreaming. It seems too good to be true! ;)

All that matters is the Lombardi. Collect some damn trophies, 25 years is a lifetime.

I agree 100%. Looks like Jerry is starting to see some literal truth in that notion, too. Before, he had to prove he could win the Super Bowl without Jimmy Johnson's influence. He must have finally let go of that. Now he just has to win before he dies.

BP has never been shy about saying what he thought. So you telling me this and BP saying he liked working for Jerry and is still good friends with Jerry is 1st hand account not a fans account who has no clue as to their relationship.

I'd still be pals with someone that paid me 25M over 4 years for coaching .500 football and delivering zero playoff victories. If that man calls I pick up the phone. And people wonder why the Gingerbread man hung around the place like sweated garlic for 10 years.

True to a point. Well thought of? Yes.

But not like this cast. This is an elite unit with serious stripes. There will be no nostalgia, no concerns with ego coddling. No on the job training, no former Cowboys.

These men left their teams entrenched in their jobs- in an instant- to help McCarthy deliver a final Lombardi to Jerry.

Jerry’s stepped back for a while. Need proof:

1) He wasn’t even at DLaws press conference last year. He was remoted in

2) Zeke said he hadn’t talked to Jerry from April-August last year.

3) I’ve tried to point this out for a year. Will McClay was offered the GM job in his hometown with the Texans. No true NFL guy is going to turn down the opportunity to build the team that is a couple pieces away from being a contender unless he’s already doing so where he is.

Here’s how the Cowboys front office works.

Jerry: Final approval on all BIG decisions like head coach, tradings first round picks, etc. Not involved in day to day. Oversees business operations for Cowboys and his 75-80 other companies like oil, real estate, etc.

Stephen: Handles cap. Is one who settles and reports to Jerry day to day issues like the fight between Richard and Bloom Fish reported yesterday.

McClay: Handles all player personnel from talent perspective. He picks the players that fit and Stephen decides if it works within the cap.

Stephen even has guys that do more day to day stuff. I forget name of the guy who actually did the final negotiations with Zekes agent when Stephen and Jerry were in New York.

Really wonder how much you've paid attention to other NFL teams if you think that Scott and Rod didn't have "serious stripes"

Marinelli was a dinosaur when he arrived here and is now a fossil. All he did was supplant Kiffin. A pre-history plant form when he arrived. But he has stripes too, correct? 0-wins as HC for both. Kiffin was never a HC. Rod's '08 Lions are legendary alright.

Does Ron Ryan have stripes? I guess a few.

And there were zero expectations of Garrett and those staffs. Jones selected them for him with his sign off. "Can you baby sit Jason?". Then they were tweaked and tinkered with different sub coaches.

Linehan was OK here all in all. Not sure how decorated he was prior. Good coordinator creds, not special OR game changing. The guy was canned after 1 season as HC as well.

My point is that this staff was summoned by McCarthy and did not hesitate to change scenery. They see an opportunity for big, instant success. They must.
