Odd that he'd be interested.

He was an RB coach in Chicago with a fair amount of success. He got what appeared to be a bit of a better role at Texas and likely could have a bigger role there next year. Why would he come back for another job as an RB coach? He's certainly got to be gunning for OC roles at the college level at this point.
Being on the coaching staff of the Cowboys far out weighs that. Especially if he's successful.

Because nothing bigger than the Dallas Cowboys on his resume and probably will make more money

I've heard his name mentioned a few times already. I think if he's 'making a visit', he's a good bet to be named this team's next running backs coach.

And I'd also like him to have him have a voice in this team's running game as well. We have plenty of 'passing guys'.

Me too. I just didn't know who he is, .. and where he was.
and this is a guy that is familiar with working with zeke. and that is very key.

Sorry Longhorn fans, but i'm hoping this works out and I think Drayton would be only too glad to have a chance at a working career for the Cowboys

I tend to worry if Cowboys asked permission to talk to Edgar Bennett ,.and were denied.
And that would suck, especially when the Raiders ask permission to talk to former special teams Rich Bucchachio (sp) and even let him walk to Radas,
with one year still on his contract. And ironically we flat out paid a heavy toll and price with leftover special teams Keith O' Quinn ..(Yikes!)

Texas associate head coach and run game coordinator Stan Drayton is scheduled to visit with the Cowboys today, according to a source. He coached Ezekiel Elliott at Ohio State before serving as Chicago Bears running backs coach from 2015-16. Gary Brown, who has been the Cowboys running backs coach since 2013, is still an option to return.

Drayton is the coach that ties in Urban Meyer and Mike McCarthy. He basically followed Meyer everywhere and was given a chance to learn NFL coaching as a quality control and special teams coach under McCarthy.

With the Fassel hire. He would be the next RB coach for the Cowboys and he is extremely good at the running game and running backs.

However, it would be a huge loss for UT as he recruited 4 star player Bijan Robinson and has 5 STAR recruit Zachary Evans who was released for letter of intent by GA to possibly go to UT with LSU and A&M on radar.

I remember when Drayton recruited Mike Weber out of high school. Drayton left Ohio State after Weber committed and Weber was very upset. Jim Harbaugh stepped in and tried to persuade Weber to go to Michigan which was closer to home. Weber flirted with the idea but ultimately chose to stay committed to Ohio State. How ironic if Drayton ends up coaching him anyway (if Weber makes the team).

Hmmm, that's interesting.

This is amazing! Seldom talked about was how predictable our run scheme was. Zeke and that o-line shouldn’t be having that much trouble opening holes and getting run lanes together.

We lacked in run game creativity and a run game coordinator plays a big part in diversifying the run game scheme. Could be a huge hire

Herman could be fired after next season. This opportunity provides him more job security. Plus recruiting has become a pain in the neck these days with the early signing period.
You beat me to it. I really like Tom, he's a good guy and very down to earth, but good guys don't always win at big time programs. I hope he wins this year cuz he's likely out if he doesn't.
