If the Cowboys are going to pay top dollar for a quarterback there are better options

They really don't tell the story, anyway.
Anyone who watched the games saw how Mariota was under duress most of the time.
I was more afraid of him being hurt, but he always played smart.
I don't know if you're deliberately lying or just don't know anything. TENN has a good OL.

sure they do. Dak was under more pressure more consistently literally every single year lol.

Granted the rate of 1st round QBs that end up starting has been better the last 3-4 years, but how many of those have proven themselves to be better players than Dak, and how many were drafted as low as the 17th spot in the draft? I would say that of the QBs drafted the last 3 years, only Mahomes is dramatically better than Dak, and I would say Watson is better as well. All others are either in the same ballpark as Dak or less, and most took a higher draft pick than #17. If you don't have good odds of a notable improvement, then it would be hard to justify the risk.

All these "same ballpark" as Dak QBs are earning less than 10m per year. Is the market rate for someone of Daks ability?

Maybe not, but what you asked for proof of the comment you quoted.

brady lost to the dolphins, and got bounced in the first round. The patriots defense spotted them a ten game lead. Brady is washed

He had no reliable receivers, dude... The Cowboys couldn't win either without acquiring a decent #1 receiver.

Cam Newton is going to be available. He would be amazing in Dallas.
I'd rather see Dallas get Cam than pay big money for Dak.
  • Case Keenum is available. He led the Vikings to the NFC Championship game. He is a better deal than Dak.
  • Marcus Mariota will be available. He would be better.
  • Tom Brady will probably be available.
And more.
As I said, I will back Dak if they sign him.
But there are much better options.
Yo on a serious not. Hit me with your dealers name if you dont mind.

edelman, traded for sanu, n'keal, they had receivers, just couldn't do anything with them. Obviously Gronk was a huge loss, but brady has consistently made more out of less. And i'm not comparing him and Dak, just acknowledging that he's finally fallen over the proverbial cliff.

It is obvious that there are numerous trolls on this board. Is there any way of controlling these guys?

First, the way you write "All these" makes it sound as of there are a boatload of QBs drafted in the last 3 years that are at Dak's level. There aren't. Most have not proven to be at that level. And, while those guys make $10 MM/year now, in a year or two they will be ready for a big payday too, at even more inflated market prices than today. This isn't somehow just something the Cowboys have to deal with. plus, while those guys have been making $10MM, Dak has been earning about $600K per year.

And, there is still the fact that we draft in the #17 spot. Of the guys drafted the last 3 years that have had solid success, only Jackson was draft at that point or later.

I'm still not sure why people hate Dak so much. The league is littered with teams with horrible QB play. The league is littered with QBs who suck. Many are mentioned in this thread. Dak actually makes plays with his legs, he avoids sacks when the line does break down, he's a good leader, he's confident and his stats are pretty darn good for a young guy. I understand it is tough to pay a QB, but it seems on this board that any player that comes up for an extension people just want to get rid of them...Jones, Dak, Amari...are you wanting less talented and cheap guys? Take a look around and you should be happy with what we have.

What?
Oh, you mean post facts and common sense that doesn't agree with your idiotic agendas?
You'd rather see the Cowboys invest millions in a proven choke artist than take the same money and get a real quarterback?
Yeah, sounds like you.

you’re an idiot and are naming qbs who are lesser than the guy we already have. Just like all the idiotic predictions and nonsense you have spewed over the better course of a decade.

Wow.
What an intelligent post that has nothing to do with the subject.
So, I assume you think Dak-despite the fact that he choked when things got tough and cost the Cowboys the division title- is the best deal for the Cowboys, even if they have to pay him top money?
That's what the thread is about.
I think the Cowboys can do better if Dak is going to cost a multi-year deal at $30-35 million per year.
I would sure hate to know the Cowboys put that much of their salary cap into a guy that hasn't played good against the tougher teams.

Let's face it: Dak is a holdover from Jason Garrett. Garrett chose him and abandoned Romo-after wasting Romo's entire career- and Jason thought Dak would make all of his dreams come true.
But Dak was like Garrett in the fact that he never had to earn his spot. He never learned to face pressure, and was forgiven when he would choke.
Then Dak was made team Captain in just his second season, further inflating his ego and further ignoring the fact that he had not achieved anything.
So this season, when things got tough, Dak seemed to have no problem just sitting back and waiting for someone else to lead the Cowboys. He quit on the team and let the season disappear.
Why? Because he has never had to earn anything.
He doesn't understand that it was his responsibility to make the Cowboys better.
So, yeah; if the Cowboys are going to have vhf to pay top dollar, they can do better than Dak.

Just so you know.....I didn’t read a word you said past the first sentence.

this/these threads and ideas you constantly throw out are no more than internet attention seeking behaviors. So yea- that is the ‘topic.’

You spend time (clearly) researching and cherry picking tidbits to support your take knowing full well we’ll engage.

and that’s all you’re looking for.

I hope my post serves as notice to those who haven’t seen you in action FOR WELL OVER 10 YEARS to know what you do and that you’re not worth the time.

You are the epitome of wrestling with the pig.
