By now, it's far more than obvious that Goodell isn't exactly chomping at the bit to get Randy re-instated and for good reason. He's screwed himself.
He's made a joke out of the NFL's determination to eliminate the weed culture from its inclusion. Just when he seems on the path to cleaning up his act, he fails beyond miserably to show lasting signs of making his rehabilitation anything resembling permanent. At some point, it looks hopeless.
He probably fairly suspects by now that his ability to perform at the required level is fading with each day, week, month and year that passes. He's very gradually fading into obscurity, whether he's willing or unwilling to face it or not. He's had more than enough time by now to fade badly in his abilities to play. I seriously suspect his chances of a successful return anytime soon are minimal, at best. Sad but most likely, all too true.
