Bullet Bob Hayes. I loved how he left CBs behind. He's the one who made me a Cowboys fan! :)

Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin were close behind, though. Both of those two were very exciting.

Michael Irvin, aside from being my favorite Cowboy of all time, is the best receiver in franchise history. I never saw Bob Hayes play but I did see and like Pearson, but to me Irvin was the consummate clutch player who could make a quarterback look good. His energy lifted the team.

I still believe that if he doesn’t go down in the playoffs in 1996, they beat the Panthers and go on to win the NFC and maybe the Super Bowl.

And in 1999, the team was 3-0 before he got hurt and played his last game. Who knows where that team would have gone with a healthy Irvin.

Tony Hill should get some mention. But Bob Hayes is number 1. Irvin is number 2. Overall talent I'm taking Hill over Pearson. Hills stats are better in retrospect but if we are looking just at a prospect Hill is taller, and has more speed is just more athletic than Pearson.

Drew Pearson was my favorite Cowboys receiver but in today’s game I would have to go with Michael Irvin. He was a bigger more physical receiver and put up huge numbers despite the Cowboys offense revolving around Emmitt and the running game. Very surprised how many are picking Bob Hayes who only had two 1000 yard seasons in his 11 year career. His numbers paled in comparison to the numbers Irvin put up with Aikman who only had five 3000 yard seasons. Hayes didn’t exactly have the greatest hands earning the nickname Butterfinger Hayes nearing the end of his career. Don’t get me wrong he was a great receiver but it did take years to get him in the HOF.

Irvin was a first ballot Hall of Famer for a reason. When you add up his numbers in the regular season and playoffs he was clearly the greatest WR in Cowboys history. He could play and produce in today’s game. The greatest cover corner in the history of the game Deion Sanders had all kinds of trouble with Irvin. Darrell Green another Hall of Fame corner used to get abused by Irvin. In my opinion Irvin is a no brainer choice. He played on the greatest dynasty the Cowboys ever had earning three Super Bowl rings. He got it done in the regular season and playoffs.

I’m taking Dez. We got speed and the ability to move the ball. We don’t have a RedZone threat and nobody was better than Dez on his rookie contract.

I think Michael Irvin. Could go over the middle. Could get deep. Big play guy.

Zone coverage was invented to stop Bullet Bob Hayes. No one could cover him in man coverage.

Correction: Irvin wasn’t a first ballot Hall of Famer. He had to wait two extra years due to off the field issues.

The thing about Drew he was a HS and college QB. And the guy that followed him in HS was Joe Theismen.

A drug conviction and prison kept Hayes out of the Hall for many years. He was also guilty of being a Dallas Cowboy.
