And if someone is so clueless as to have a wedding n super bowl sunday, do not ever be their friend again.

My daughter & son-in-law did exactly that to me 5 years ago. They signed an agreement for a reception hall, wedding ceremony, etc. without realizing it was on Super Sunday. To be fair neither of them are football fans & they were trying to save me money since I was footing the entire bill. My wife forebade me from even joking about it as my daughter felt really bad about it when she realized the date. I did take note that my brother-in-law & his son left right after the ceremony, before the reception, to hurry to a party. There were a few people who frowned on that, I was not one of them.
It was a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony & the reception was great, and it did save me a lot of money so I have no regrets about it.
I didn't really have any choice anyway.

Actually on a ranch in Luckenbach, round 12 miles from Fredericksburg.
Oh yeah, I used to be in Luckenbach almost weekly. Lovely place. I got to know so many bikers there...

Wow. Hope you instructed the dude to call the marriage off. That is the epitome of selfishness, and it won't get any better.

He was an acquaintance. But my sister in law and her husband went. That's the girl saying you will have nothing sacred besides me. On your birthdays you will celebrate me. The choice of that date is not coincidence. Even people that don't like football or sports in general wouldn't pick that day so to not inconvenience people they plan to invite. Not his wife though. But I refuse to be part of it.

On parties, yeah I tend to agree. Close friends and family it's usually the best, and number around what you said at most. There's only been a handful of people I've watched super bowls with. I don't even want to get into it about sports bars and big parties with a ton of people I don't know. I can't get through any sentences without multiple words that show up as asterisks.

My uncle owned it and sold it to Hondo Crouch and Guich Cook. Went to the dancehall when I was a kid, used to sleep under the tables.

We still go dancing there occasionally.

I'm here to learn folks. As a former professor I like to learn something new everyday.
For example, can a guy wear Cowboys' gear on Sunday?
Sure. Fans wear colors of teams they support.

I have my Egals #11 all washed and ready to wear. ------> runs

Couldn't agree more!!!!!

I love get-togethers, just not for super bowl. Those big parties are for people who want to socialize during the game, or to brag later about how big their party/TV/etc was.

I've noticed during the course of my life that the bigger the party gets, the less fun you have. There's prolly a number for a party, that if you go over it, the fun lessens. Most of the great parties I remember were generally in the 3-15 range head count.

Don’t laugh at the commercials just because you think you’re supposed to, most “ funny” SB commercials use a punchline based on a flimsy premise and that’s not comedy......I’m kidding, you can laugh at whatever you want to:muttley:

I would love to volunteer at animal shelters but I know I would hate it...is it really that awkward? I can think of hundreds of things I know I would hate without needing to try them.
How do you know absolutely you would hate it tho? Live life

Because I would want to take every animal home with me and would be depressed having to leave them in cages. I would also become attached to them so when/if they were adopted I would miss them. Why would I purposefully put myself in a situation that I know would mentally effect me in a negative way? Hell, I stopped watching the news years ago but it was so depressing. I rarely read Yahoo headlines because it’s mostly negative headlines, I don’t want to nor need to hear that trash.
