Last year Dak was 8 and 8 as the starter. Special teams and kicker cost us a game or two. Coaching cost us a game or two.

Zeke’s fumble/nonfumble cost us a game. Amari’s deflected pass cost us a game. The two phantom tripping calls on Tyron cost us a game.

Dak is an 11/12 win QB a year with a decent supporting cast. That’s top shelf year in and year out and he has upside.

While going down the blame list, you left out the times that Dak “cost us a game”...

So none of the losses were Dak's fault? Or by your count, he's responsible for only one? Last time I checked, on the win and in game against the Eagles, the defense forced seven straight 3 and outs and Dak did nothing with the opportunities. So is that the one loss he's responsible for or is it something else?

I guess we'll find out. Last I checked he went 8-8 last year and I don't recall him lifting the team on his shoulders and winning just that one game that would have gotten us to the playoffs. Fact is, he got a lot of garbage stats when we were chucking the ball around trying to come from behind. Also 1-2 in playoff games. He hasn't really proven anything other than he is an NFL starter.

And Eli played above his, but sometimes an environment does that. There were a few good Qbs that never got off the ground and there are some average qbs who luck out. its what it is.

You are what your record says you are.

Last three years he's 9-7, 10-6, and 8-8.

Great numbers? Yes, but great numbers don't win games.
Great players do.

Mahomes could have treaded water, lost the Super Bowl and nobody have would blinked an eye. They would have credited the 49ers defense, said he was young, and let it go.

But Mahomes didn't do that. He took it on himself to try to win that game.
Dak don't do that. He relies on Zeke to bail him out.

Has not hit his ceiling yet. Last year was a joke.. Now Dak could have played a little better and made mistakes for sure. But how many FG did we miss. How many drives did we start deep in our territory. That’s why we had the #1 Offense and went 8-8. Defense regressed. We had a apparent division in the locker room because half was Richard guys and half was Marinelli guys. Who was the DC. So many drops by the WR.

In the end it's a team effort and blame, with exceptions, should be placed on Cowboys as a whole. I feel like if the fans on this forum were more invested with the team concept as a whole rather than drawing lines in the sand on certain players this place would be less toxic.

The OP is right to an extent. It takes a team to win football games. Rarely does one player carry a team to victory. The Cowboys were let down by their special teams and defense far more than they were let down by Dak.

That's a double edged sword. If an above average QB isn't able to carry a team to an above average record, why the hell would you give him $35 million per year?

There seems to be 4 groups of people on this site who are talking past each other:
1. Dak is superduper awesome!
2. Dak is above average and the going rate for that is $30-35m per year. Pay the guy and figure out the rest.
3. Dak is around average. Paying him around $30-35m per year will hamstring the team to the point where they can't compete for a title.
4. Dak is superduper sucky!

Every team who didn't win the Super Bowl has excuses. The team that won overcame those excuses won. That's what separates good from great. It separates men from boys.

Spare us this Internet "toxic" overused bs. When you people go I to a Dak praise thread with this same bs I'll believe y'all truly are about this "team" concept junk but until heck outta here.

Yep.. More times then not when you need Dak to step up he just continues to run the offense and wait until the last minute to finally try and make a play for the team.

Please offer a lost of those games and reasons you think Dak lost them, if you'd be so kind. Then juxtapose those to games lost when Romo was under center and the entire Cowboy nation here blamed it on the defense.

I'd very much be delighted to read this treatise by you.
