0-2 but still have Romo

I remember asking the question, "Would you rather be 0-2, but still had Romo, or 2-0 and not have Romo for an extended amount of time?" Surprisingly, a lot of posters said that they would always take the W's, even if it cost us Romo being out for some games. I didn't understand that logic then and I certainly don't now. This team can't win without #9, even with Dez being back. The Cardinals game from last year should have told us all what was coming.

who knew an nfl team would be barely capable of operating a modern passing offense? i knew things would be different but what we've seen here is ridiculous.

No one thought it would be this bad without Romo. So if this is a "I Told you so..." thread then you can gloat. I Think people thought we'd be able to compile a few more wins. I thought they would've atleast got 1 or 2 wins in this stretch but they can't. They've been competing. They haven't been quitting just haven't been good enough to close out games. People forgot last year about all the close games we won last year in closing minutes. You got away with that with Murray, a running game, clutch catches by Dez and clutch play by Romo. Its all missing right now and as a result we can't close out games.

It's not an "I told you so" thread, I'm just bringing up what was said on here. I honestly thought that we would be lucky to win one game with Brandon Weeden at the helm. If anyone saw how he played over the course of his career, they would have agreed with that assessment. This team is Romo or bust. Why in the world would you take 2 wins if it meant that Romo would be out for an extended amount of time? That's an extremely narrow minded way to look at the season as a whole.

Romo's amazing, and I have some hope that he's the straw that stirs the drink in Dallas, but we've been losing games for other reasons than the QB during this run. It's not all on Weeden/Cassel.

I do think we're getting better around those guys, though.

I think everybody wanted 2-0 WITH Romo, but that wasn't the scenario since Romo got injured.

It's not all on Weeden/Cassel, but more than likely, the Cowboys are sitting at 6-1 right now, at worst 5-2 with #9.

Maybe. Yeah. Romo's pretty dynamic.

Thanks for that. Now I'm depressed again.

Its not just about Weeden though. The NFL is not just about the quarterback. You need your special teams to step up and give you great field position every once in awhile. You need your defense to get you great field position or score some points for you. We aren't getting ANY OF THAT. We would've needed help. I thought the run game would be better. People simply expected more from this team outside of the quarterback position. NO one thought Weeden was that good and I knew Cassel was nothing but a smarter version of Weeden. A more experienced Weeden. But he's still not Romo or even a starting quarterback in this league. This team feeds off its quarterback and when the quarterback is struggling the team is suppose to bail him out. That' snot happening. So that's why we expected more than 2 wins at this point.

I disagree. Not playing like they did those first 2 games. Not even just about Romo. This team specifically the offense wasn't that good to begin with at the beginning of this season. Romo just bailed them out of Game 1 or even the Giants did of not scoring a touchdown when they should've.

This team got rid of their best special teams player, who is having a great year in NY, in favor of a midget. This team is not constructed in a way for success without Romo, that's just the reality. The coaching staff is inept and it's showing right now in an ugly way. So yes, it was just about Weeden/Cassel because the team is totally reliant upon the QB being a dynamic player. Once they lost that dynamic player, the ugly fruits of this team starts to show. You can't play any better on defense than what the Cowboys played on Sunday, and they still couldn't win.

This isn't New England where the system and coaching is good enough to insert any qb in the line up. Romo is our entire offense, he changes calls, adjusts and has that magic. Without Romo we can have the Broncos Defense and we still would lose.

Well that's not nice. Technically, 0-2 with Romo wasn't a scenario either since they were in fact 2-0 and did not have Romo. At least my scenario was half right!

This team didn't get rid of Harris. Harris got rid of us. They offered both him and Justin Durant contracts and they went to other teams.

And in this NFL there are teams that struggle. But they get timely sacks. They get timely turnovers. They get timely special teams plays. You can ignore that if you want but the NFL is not just about the quarterback. I'm assuming you didn't see Aaron Rodgers throw for even less yards than Cassel did last night? Why? Packers got no help from anyone. When the offense struggled no one stepped up.

Hindsight is 20/20. There's no way to know Romo was going to get injured. It's just a part of football and we got the ****** side of the toilet paper this go around.

We're not winning anything without Romo and I truly am beginning to question Garrett's ability to adjust his offense to a lesser QB.

Wouldn't you say that Hardy's interception was timely? Wouldn't you say Irving's blocked FG was timely? Wouldn't you say that holding Seattle to 13 points was timely? They still couldn't win with all of those timely things happening, Why? Because they can't score TD's. Without Romo, this team is not getting in the end zone consistently. It doesn't matter if the Cowboys had the 85 Bears defense, with Deion Sanders and Devin Hester back there on punts and kickoffs, the team can't score TD's. That's the bottom line.

It was timely. I was speaking as a whole. In this run, this was their 1st time the special teams even showed a pulse. This was the first turnover since what? Week 2?

Have you seen how the Giants won last week against us? Cassel gave them a pick 6. Harris gave them a special team touchdown. That is what i'm referring to. No, this will not happen every week. But you need more consistency from this TEAM. Even last year with Romo you got help from special teams and the defense with timely turnovers.

The biggest problem on this team is the quarterback and the offense. Make no mistake. No one is debating that. What i'm saying is i'm not letting this team off the hook either. You need more from the rest of this team as well because we know what we have at quarterback is not very good. But I do believe our special teams can potentially be better than how they have played and I think this defense can play better as well then they have showed. They are getting better.
